Cwetqo Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 I was surprised to find this in our local shop (in Slovenia). Unfortunately my budget for lego for this year is used so I did not buy (and even if I had extra money I would probably buy something else, beacuse this is just another buggy) It would be nice to see review from some other though. Maybe this set is also hiding some surprises, like 8049 Price: 29eur Quote
DLuders Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 I checked the LegoShopAtHome.com website, and the Year 2010 Lego 8048 set is not yet offered in the USA. There is some discussion about the set at the websites http://www.moclug.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi?ac...297&start=0 and http://technicbricks.blogspot.com/search?q=8048 (scroll about 3/4 of the way down the page). TechnicJuan Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 OMG. I can't believe how many 8275 Bulldozer sets your store has. You can't touch that set for under $250 here! I've never even seen that set in a store. Quote
Cwetqo Posted December 19, 2009 Author Posted December 19, 2009 Yeah, I was suprised to se them too. I bought mine in a hurry almost two years ago as it was said that its expected to be gone soon. And now it's still in the shops and prices are getting lower an lower. When I bought mine I paid 140eur and I thought I get it for good price (regular prices were around 160-170euro). Now, those sets that you seen on the lower shelf are selling for 109euro and no one seems to be buying them. It was even cheaper around black friday sales (they're not called like that here, but its also the time when there are alot of sales), the price was 100euro. Quote
Grimmy Posted December 25, 2009 Posted December 25, 2009 Boy I thought the US usually got everything first but I keep seeing people post reviews on all these new 2010 sets like this set and the Toy Story sets. Quote
Jetro Posted December 25, 2009 Posted December 25, 2009 I've already seen all of the new sets in shop in Holland Quote
Remy!!!! Posted December 25, 2009 Posted December 25, 2009 I already have one, and also the new helicopter Quote
LordGalewind Posted December 26, 2009 Posted December 26, 2009 I bought all the 1H2010 sets (except 8041) at Toysrus just a few days before Christmas. They've had all of them there for about three weeks, but I just got around to buying them. Target also has some of them as well. Quote
Noworries Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Just got this set as well as 8045 at "Spiel und Freizeit" in Gersthofen (Augsburg, Germany) today. Price was 29,00€ for 8048. I'm really disappointed abount this set :-( Quote
Jetro Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 I'm really disappointed abount this set :-( Could you explain why? Quote
Stash2Sixx Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Saw 8048 at a LEGO store yesterday in Chicagoland, so they are out in the states; at least as of yesterday! Quote
Noworries Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Could you explain why? Sorry, sure i could. In first place it seems a bit overpriced. Don't know the parts / € Ratio but when you unpack it you know what i mean. It does not feel very fully developed nor does it look completed. The cockpit cover is openable and yet very unstable. The "side bumpers" (what are they called?) are only affixed on one point of the chassis. The construction of the front suspension is a bit weird, even if its almost the same as on 8262. Speaking about the suspension, the rear is also like 8262, but does not look natural on a "Dune Buggy". I like ALL of the 1H2010 Sets, aside from this one. I used the stickers and thats the only reason why I dont disassemble it to raise the B Model... Quote
Milan Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Noworries, you could post some photos and make some sort of small review... Quote
Noworries Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 (edited) I'll do that in this thread as soon as my camera got powered up. EDIT: If no one minds i could post pictures of all 1H2010 Sets in this Thread I can't do proper reviews of the sets, they are all unbagged, build and i haven't keep the boxes Edited December 29, 2009 by Noworries Quote
Noworries Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 (edited) Allright, here we go (hope BB Codes work!): Click to enlarge but be awared: 4,5MB each! 8045 Mini Telehandler Overall shot with arm down Arm raises quite high! The lifter mechanism, basic as in all small sets. Another perspective of the whole model. 8046 Helicopter Overall Shot The gearing for the porpeller. 8047 Compact Excavator Overall Shot Some Mechanics The back 8048 Buggy Overall Shot The wobbly cockpit cover The unfinished "what ever it is"... A steering wheel connected to the steering mechanism and the HOG Steering - THIS is so far the only detail i like With full force the front is down to the ground. I really don't like the suspension on this set. The "bricked" block on the front doesn't look good either... The engine on the back, you can see the suspension in the background. Please TLG dont do this again, personally i want single wheel suspension! Bottom 8049 Log Harvester Panorama Shot Some pneumatics, 2 switch controlled Only the professional keeps controll of the chaos! ____ Any more shots required? Please dont be afraid to ask ... could build the B-Models as well, but only if some people want it... Edited December 29, 2009 by Noworries Quote
tomacwhite Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Thanks for the photos, the Forest Tractor and Excavator look really good. Has anyone seen them for sale in England yet? Quote

Noworries Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 I got it assembled in around 1 1/2 Hour (including Photoshootings) and have the review ready by 20:00 local time ;-) Stickers were a pain in the a** :( Quote
TechnicJuan Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 I was not very impressed with the Racing Truck at all. I picked it up at the Local Toys R Us last week and built it in about 2 hours. Nothing really special about it other than new black panels. Quote
