Kalahare Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 (edited) Hi all, there is my first MOC on EB. Special HAZMAT Van from my Lego Fire Department. This truck is carrying detection equipment, special suits, breath apparatus and mask. This car helps in any case of chemical disaster or biological attack. Legostein Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 Hello! That's a great fire truck there. The sliding door using those droid arms is really a fantastic idea. I also like the use of the new coloured trans-neon-yellow round plates for the back lights. Cheers, ~ Christopher Quote
Razgriz Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 Great van, and that sliding door is brilliant! Where did that idea come from? (If you dont mind me asking) Quote
lightningtiger Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 Ah one if my pet loves - FIRE ENGINES - yours is AWESOME ! Your side door idea I seen a few times on delivery truck/van designs in the past, but it really works well on your truck. What I like the most is the front end - fantastic ! Keep those MOC's comming I need the competition to make me do better MOC's and we all can learn off each others design ideas for the glory of the brick ! haha ! Quote
Rick Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 What I like the most is the front end - fantastic ! I was actually going to mention this as one of the things I don't really like about it... it seems a bit to 'fat'. I would consider loosing one plate of 'thickness'. But maybe you based this of a real-life model and it looks perfect as it is (I have nothing to compare it to). Other than that, this is a really nice rescue/hazmat truck. The sliding door really looks good. Another good sliding door technique comes from RalphS (but he also used 'your' technique in some of his MOCs). Quote
Zorbas Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 Very nice MOC Kalahare! The overall shape and size are very good and as others have already mentioned, the sliding door is excellently executed. I also like the looks of the back door. Very nice! A nice MOC intro in Eurobricks. Keep up the good work! Great van, and that sliding door is brilliant! Where did that idea come from? (If you dont mind me asking) A similar tecnique was also used in the 7893 Passenger Plane. Quote
Kalahare Posted December 14, 2009 Author Posted December 14, 2009 (edited) Thanks for all comments! It is good motivation for future work. I have seen this sliding door system on Brickshelf, so it is not my own developement. But works easily, looks good. Rick, thank You for Your feedback. Yes, the front part can be reduced by one plate size, the edge between windscreen and the front mask will be smaller. Nothing is perfect . This MOC si based on this real-life model: Edited December 14, 2009 by Kalahare Quote
Milan Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 Hey, good looking MOC. It has nice details, and as almost everybody mentioned, great sliding door! One thing I don't like...that sloped parts at the roof. Maybe it would look better with curved 1x4 bricks? Quote
marvinblue Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 This is a fantastic truck that you've built. I really like it!! A very similar design might find its way ino my brigade in the future.... Well Done!! Quote
meyerc13 Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 I love this creation. I live a few miles from the Pierce factory where they produce their fire trucks, and I actually thought your van looked like one of their heavy duty walk-in Rescue trucks, moreso than a van. Either way, great job and I think every LEGO fire department should have one. Quote
agrudsky Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Hello sir. I am interested in buying your hazMat Truck. I think it would be a good addition to my lego team. Please contact me at agrudsky@hotmail.com If you don't you could build me an instruction manual for it and I would build it my self. Thank You! Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Neat fire truck, err van 'Kalahare'. Great work on the "sliding door". All around great, useful vehicle for a city. Hope to see more Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Very well done Fire/Hazmat van Kalahare! Really nice work on the sliding side doors and the opening rear door. I also like the conservative design, not overly done and with just the right amount of details. Good job! Quote
LuxorV Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Hello sir. I am interested in buying your hazMat Truck. I think it would be a good addition to my lego team. Please contact me at agrudsky@hotmail.com If you don't you could build me an instruction manual for it and I would build it my self. Thank You! Though it can be nice to leave positive feedback on other people's work, I'd warmly suggest you to check the topic dates and avoid resurrecting more than one year old threads in the future. Moreover, if all you want is ask for instructions or to buy a model, please do so via the PM system. Thank you Quote
