Ratbat Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 (edited) Didn't see a review for him anywhere, so I decided to make one. The Canister- There's something about the Stars canisters that I really like. It's probably the simplicity of it, along with how small it is. It's simple, and it works. Contents- Upon opening the canister, I was surprised to see an instruction booklet instead of a fold out poster. Excellent! I was wondering how they would fit such a simple build into a booklet. There's only about 1 step per page. New molds include the Haus, armor, and feet. The Hau looks great! Unfortunately, it was made to fit the atrocious 08 Matoran head. Due to this, it doesn't fit on the Mata head, and will only connect with the Metru head about half-way. The new armor pieces also look great. I can see many uses for these. The feet are some of the best we've ever gotten, in my opinion. They allow for a socket piece to connect to the back (Thank you!), and have a plus rod slot on the bottom. The Finished Product- Tahu looks great when assembled. The armor adds a bit of bulk to him, but not excessively. The fire sword is a two-toned Ackar flame piece. Great! However, the fact that there's no handle may bug you, as it looks like he's holding a giant flame, and not a sword. I think the designers knew this, so they added a nuva armor piece to act as a handle. It looks out of place, but it isn't a very big deal, as it can be removed. One more thing- this isn't a problem with the set, but it's something that once again, may bug you. There are only two colors (aside from the head and Nuva armor) on Tahu, being red and orange. These two colors work great together, but depending on your opinion, it could use some black to balance out the onslaught of red and orange. Without the extra armor- The fire sword- A shot of the Hau- Nothing you haven't seen before. Shot of Tahu with the golden Hau- This is going to look great once I get the other five! Probably my only compliant with the entire set would be the inclusion of the 08 head. Not only does the face sculpt look atrocious, the head sticks out too far, so it is not aligned with the rest of his body. From the front it's not a problem, but from the side... Articulation- Tahu has nine points of articulation, the standard for small sets. The head is slightly limited, but the arms can get into a lot of cool poses due to them being pre-bent. Overall, I am very happy with Tahu. He makes for a good "action figure", looks good, and has many useful pieces. However, if you don't like the simple build, then I would say pass. Recommended! prateek Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 Great review. I really should get a Stars set. I want a Rahkshi or this. I agree that there should be some black, to look like the original Tahu. But other than that, this is a cool set. Quote
Front Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 (edited) Nice review, thank you. I modified the old Hau mask several months ago, adding a cross axle inside after removing the old system knob. Seeing how the original shape did not really fit the long shape of the head, I suggested to the designer in charge of the Stars sets that we should alter the proportions of the mask. We modified the overall proportions of the mask, making it smaller seen from the front, but longer seen from the side. Actually I made several Rapid-prototyping versions with different proportions, and had the designer pick his favorite . I must say that this has become my favorite Stars set, although I really like the Piraka. Edited December 15, 2009 by Front Quote
General Armendariz Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 I like the old mask I collected the entire first wave when it came out! I love the simplicity of this set. Quote
GovernmentGuy Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 Thanks for the early review~ Sad... Old Tahu was much better than this... Since it's the last set of bionicle... I should by one... Quote
CommanderFox Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 (edited) Thanks for the review Ratbat. This little canister set is so simple but looks really nice! That golden Bionicle guy looks tempting. Nice review! CommanderFox Edited December 15, 2009 by CommanderFox Quote

cheesey skrall Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 tahu is awesome, but the stars one isnt the best. why are the ratings so high? in my opinion, rahkshi is the best. Quote
mark40 Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 i have not yet build a tahu i will go tomorrow and purchase these pieces. its really nice Quote
ShadowWolfHount Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 (edited) The Tahu Star is okay but not that good, I do find the feet really odd and i think they should have just used the Mata feet but if they did we will never have gotten that piece, so it is some what of a good thing. The mask i do like that they remade it but i really hate that they only fit on the 2008 Matoran Head and not the Metru plus it is good on the front yes but on the side is really bad. The new armor is good and i do like it plus it is really useful, the weapon is good but i don't get that Tahu get a Fire Sword color like that and not Ackar I just don't get it, anyways i do like that they used the Nuva Shoulder Armor for it and it is good that they used Silver. Now the color is good but i do think it should of had some black on it. Last the body; well it just a normal 08/09 Matoran/Agori build, really have nothing much to say about it.
