RocketClone Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 I know im a little bit late on the taking but i just wanted to post this. As some of you guys may know this year is Transformers 25th anniversary (wow makes us guys look old ) 1984-2009 is about right! The Transformer toy line idea originated in Japan from a company named Takara (the japanese equivilant of Hasbro) and the car-to-robot idea didn't exactily take off there, but Hasbro thought the idea was great and decided to sell it here in America (but with different design schemes, different names etc.) The toys sold like hot cakes here in America! They sold so well that the people over at Hasbro decided to make a TV series about the toy line, But the law was back in 1984 was that Toy producers (like Hasbro) couldnt make a TV show about their products, But then He-Man (Mattel) changed that.Today the Transformers are still a hit and growing 25 years strong! Hope i didnt bore you with that chunk of info. Well there you have it! Quote
DarthSion Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 The only good transformers was G1 G2 and beast wars, everything else has been a disgrace. But yes happy bday to transformers, if only a real fan would make some stuff for gen x views of the original series. Quote
Big Cam Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 Woot, I'm old, 2 years older than Transformers to be exact. I remember having the complete Devastator set, all those little green construction workers Damn, I miss that, I don't even know what happened to them Quote
Lordofdragonss Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 The only good transformers was G1 G2 and beast wars, everything else has been a disgrace. I would add Animated too- It is marvelous! Many great characters like Longarm, Sentiniel and Ratchet, an my favorite Starscream from all series(ok Armada starscream was great too)... Quote

Yes Animated did have a lot of noteable characters (sentiniel included) but IMHO i think that they totally butchered the characters, and i didnt like the animation (makes me miss the days of Sunbow making the animation ) comes to show nothing will ever match up to G1. Trivia Question: Who handed the Matrix of Leadership to Optimus Prime? Quote
Lord Thrawn Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 Sentinel Prime (via Alpha Trion?)! Quote
RocketClone Posted December 17, 2009 Author Posted December 17, 2009 Heres som more Transformers nostalga right here:Transformers theme by lion and this: Quote

Your so wrong its not even funny. G1 and G2 were probbly the worst in terms of story and cheeze of any 80's cartoon. And beast wars? Optimus primal? Gime a break.... Lame. But concider all, there are many other atributed that makes TF great. So yes, happy birthday to one of my favorite childhood toys! Quote
PattieCake Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 An opinion is an opinion and everyone is entitled to having one. Mine: G1 and G2 were inovative for their time but the cartoon is extremely campy and sometimes the animation just goes haywire! Dissapearing faces, background, heck they sometimes even get the colors and voices messed up! Have to say I really enjoyed it when I was little, today... not so much. It's hard for me to watch more than 3 episodes in a row. Beast Wars still holds it's own today. The series was completey computer animated and featured some of the character developments and stories ever. My favourite series. The figures were hit and miss, but they tried, like they always do. Beast Machines was ok, the second season was definately better as the story progressed. Not to fond of the design and animation, still think Beast Wars looks better most of the time. Toys were meh in most cases. Robots in Disguise was typically Japanese, the animation was pretty awesome but the random mix of characters and story doesn't appeal to me. The toys have some of the best designs ever, still being pretty damn impressive to this day. Armada, Energon, Cybertron: Can't stand the animation on these, Armada's ok from time to time but they have some really bad episodes where the animation quality isn't what it's supposed to be, reminds me of Dragon Ball GT. They have some good toys though, not a big fan of gimmicks, at all, especially when they're useless and take articulation or hinder the overall appearance of the toy. First time we ever got an Unicron and Primus though. Animated is one of the best shows ever if you ask me, full of homages and plain old fun adventures. The style might put some people off, but I got used to and really like it. Too bad the show is cancelled. The toys are amazing in terms of engineering, they have great posability and they look slick as hell! I know there are some Japanese series as well, but I never watched those. Have a few Japanese Beast Wars and I quite like them. The movie didn't really appeal to me. Felt more like Humans with Transforming robots to me. Thought the second one was even worse. Action wise it was pretty good, but the story really lacked, as did the acting. Not to big of a fan of the toy designs, but there are some real winners in there! The Alternators figures have me hooked, amazing engineering! Cars that look like model cars that Transform into posable modern version of the G1 characters I know and love. I've dreamt about this when I was little. Same goes for the Masterpiece line, those are some very, very, very impressive Transformers! They might cost a bunch, but they're unlike anything I've ever seen. An Optimus Prime that is show-accurate in both vehicle and robot mode? Rock on! Then there's the Classics line. Filled with modern updates of old characters, great posability, transformations and designs. It seems to me like Transformers are only getting better and better. Quote
prateek Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 (edited) Yay! Hopefully Hasbro releases some really badass toys this year. I liked the Michael Bay movies, Armada, Beast Wars, and TF:RID. Edited February 26, 2010 by prateek Quote
PattieCake Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 They have this new Powercore Combiners theme going on. Something like Headmaster/Targetmaster/Mini-Cons from the looks of it. The design resembles the movie and Classics line. Quote
RocketClone Posted March 2, 2010 Author Posted March 2, 2010 Well after seeing the trailer for Transformers:War on cybertron i must say i was impressed with all the g1 elements put into it, espicially trypticon. Quote
k_peek_2000 Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Aha I set one of my transformers on fire today XD (RIP Skids, but I never liked you to begin with) Quote
