SuvieD Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 Thanks for stopping in this thread. I need to finish up a research paper and find myself short a few interviews. I am not too picky about respondents as my argument is air tight but having some additional sources will help the paper. Basically, if you buy or sell on Bricklink.com you can help me out. Just answer the questions below in complete sentences in a reply to this post. Thanks in advance for your help! Questions: What would make placing (buying or selling) an order a better or more simple process for you? If a new way to place orders was implemented that would involve changes to the site that allow for accurate estimated shipping and instant payment for orders was made, why would/wouldn't it benefit Bricklink and why would/wouldn't you want to use it? Bricklink is based on seller's freedom to customize their own store and they would not be forced to use any new options, how would you feel about selling with such changes or why would you choose to/not to buy from stores that offered these services? Because these improvements could allow for faster order processing, how important to you would changes like this be? What other comments or opinions concerning this topic do you have?
Big Cam Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 Thanks for stopping in this thread. I feel the process works quite well, except the fact that they can charge whatever shipping they want after you place your orders. If a new way to place orders was implemented that would involve changes to the site that allow for accurate estimated shipping and instant payment for orders was made, why would/wouldn't it benefit Bricklink and why would/wouldn't you want to use it? Well without knowing what changes you are proposing it's hard to accuretaly comment. I think a set shipping rate based off of weight would be a great improvement, but instant payment is practically in place now, as soon as you recieive your invoice you can pay with paypal. I think the buyer still deserves a day or two to make payment through paypal if needed. Bricklink is based on seller's freedom to customize their own store and they would not be forced to use any new options, how would you feel about selling with such changes or why would you choose to/not to buy from stores that offered these services? If you are going to implement changes that affect shipping, you either need to force all users to use it or don't do it. If it's not a requirement, people wont do it, especially if they can possibly make more money with their shipping rates. Because these improvements could allow for faster order processing, how important to you would changes like this be? This depends on the implementation, if implemented how you currently see it as optional, it will fail, if it was implemented sitewide as a requirement, you may have some angry sellers but shipping would be more streamlined, I think the impact to the buyer would be minimal as shipping is usually pretty reasonable, and sellers who overcharge get feedback accordingly. What other comments or opinions concerning this topic do you have? I think that the majotiry of large sellers who often offer the best deals would raise prices if shipping became standardized, they may feel they are loosing money and will make it up however they can.
