Lego Lassie Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 Hello Everyone! I've been enjoying this forum for a few years and finally decided to leap in and contribute. Some of the contests I've seen here are very intriguing and some day perhaps I'll give that a go too (even though I haven't made a MOC since I was a child, this forum inspires me). So more about me...I've been an avid collector of Lego for over 3 years now. Ever since I found Jabba's Sail Barge for sale and convinced myself it was okay to buy just one kid's toy for myself even though it was expensive. Well, fast forward those 3 years and I'm a Lego addict, I've discovered that it is a beautiful medium for artists (not just kids), and I have a lot less money. As I am a woman in my 30's, I am definitely an odd standout for my hobby among those I know but I absolutely love it and suprisingly enough those important to me are quite supportive. I was the one who dragged both my kids into it and my husband loves that he no longer has to figure out what to buy me for those special occasions. Just throw some Lego my way and I'm thrilled. So there's a little of my story and I hope to have time to join in on all the great topics around here. It sure will be nice to have more people to talk to about this than just my kids. As fun as it is to talk to my kids about Lego, their eyes kind of glaze over when mom goes on and on about anything other than the Star Wars theme......... Quote
Peppermint_M Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 Hi Welcome to the forum! You'll find you are not alone here, plenty of us have had odd looks (At least as an adult you can decide what "grown up" is. Try being a sixteen year old girl more into Lego than clothes.. ). What are your favourite themes other than Star Wars? Do you have any MOC you'd most like to create? Anywho, have fun and drop in here to get added to the Lady group to avoid any confusion later on (edited, link was broken) Quote
Big Cam Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 Welcome to the forums! I wrote a review of Jabbas sail Barge, the link is in my sig, feel free to check it out if you'd like. There is the link to be identified as a lady, if you'd like. It was posted in another welcome thread. I'm on my phone otherwise I'd post it for you. Quote
Milan Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 Welcome, Lego Lassie! Glad to have another Lady here! Enjoy your stay Quote
RileyC Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 Welcome to EB! Its good to see your contributing to the number of ladies round here. Its not a very good ratio of men:women Quote
BlueDragonZ Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 Welcome to the forums. The jabba sail barge is indeed a really good set and may be expensive at that time. But its even more expensive now ! Glad you decided to join Eurobricks and be sure to contact the admins so you can get the "ladies" symbol and your user name will become pink ! Quote
Lego Lassie Posted December 6, 2009 Author Posted December 6, 2009 Thanks for the warm welcome from all! To answer your question Peppermint, I also love Indiana Jones, Pirates, Castle, some City, and those delightful modular buildings. I swear that they and those other exclusives will drive me mad one day with want since I can't afford to get everything. As to what I would like to MOC, that is a curiosity even to myself. I don't really have any definitive idea about what to do but my fingers sometimes just itch to start something and see what happens! Quote
Zorro Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 Welcome to Eurobricks, Lego Lassie, it appears quite some AFFOL's are joining our community lately! Please enjoy browsing the boards and have a great time doing so. Btw I put you into the Ladies group. Quote
L-space Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 A great set to start with. Enjoy your stay Quote
Izzy Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 As to what I would like to MOC, that is a curiosity even to myself. I don't really have any definitive idea about what to do but my fingers sometimes just itch to start something and see what happens! Welcome to Eurobricks! I know that feeling well! Sometimes just rebuilding a set or modifying it can be enough. Cheers, IZ Quote
