I recently received my Cafe Corner from SAH for my collection before they discontinue it in the U.S. I was looking over the piece count and contemplating buying a few more to use as parts for other modular buildings. Aside from not really having any standard windows, there are tons of parts. I'm torn between buying such an icon and piecemealing it for parts. Would you guys do it? I have bought about 6 of the Family Home just for parts. The other option I was thinking is grab a few and hold onto them until they are NLA. You've all seen what people are getting for Market Street MISB on eBay right?

Thoughts?

Well there is absolutely no doubt whatsoever that CC would be a decent set to grab for investment purposes, if collecting is your thing. It's a truly landmark set that's going to have a lot of appeal to future City-oriented AFOLs. As a parts pack, it's solid enough, as well. I can't think of a single reason not to buy another one of these before they jump in price.

Lots of grey, brown and tan bricks (which are about the best building MOC ingredients), dark blue bricks, lots of light and dark grey tiles (and I mean a ton), 5 1x4x6 windows, dark grey plates, less than $.07 per piece... bleh I could go on. Perfect parts pack.

I bought mine mainly for the parts. I did build it and actually left it together for a few months before taking it apart (which is pretty rare), but it's got great parts.

Cheers,

Ralph

Plus keep the boxes and instructions and you can always build the sets up again and sell them as used. Still go for more than you paid for them!

Now that cafe corner has been discontinued for the uk market does any one know where you can still get them without spending a fortune on ebay or bricklink?
