saberwing Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 Hi everyone! I made this stop-motion movie a long while ago (in the summer holiday), and I have finally decided to upload it. Here it is: So what do you guys think? Quote
CMP Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 Hahaha! Sweet movie! A bit laggy at first, but you don't notice it later. I love that part when the soldier got shot with the rifle, nice effects there. Also, kudos for cannon effects. You should definetley continue it. Quote
Admiral Croissant Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 Great movie. The animation could be a bit better but for the rest it looks good. Your cannon effect is really cool, did you use a certain program for that? This is really promising for more movies Quote
Commodore Hornbricker Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 Great movie. Lots of good effects and senseless violence! The blanket water effect worked really well, especially the part where the rowboat turned over. Quote
saberwing Posted November 30, 2009 Author Posted November 30, 2009 Thanks for all the good comments Your cannon effect is really cool, did you use a certain program for that? I use adobe after effects. Quote
Admiral Croissant Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 I use adobe after effects. Ok. I suppose that isn't for free...Maybe I can find it somewhere. Well, thanks anyway Quote
Grimmy Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 Adobe after effects is a complicated program to use. But it is a very good professional product. The pirate film was great. Good editing too but as you already know you need to add more frames to your animation so that the movements can look more fluid. Remember the old stopmotion animation rule, Ease in, Ease out. I found this it might help you a bit. Just trying to be helpful :) Slow, fast, slow type of thing. Quote
fallentomato Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 Hehehe You did a great job with the sound effects and music. I love the way all the characters grunt and laugh and exclaim. As someone else pointed out, if you added in more frames per second you could get smoother animation, but I think this was relatively smooth considering the low frame rate. I thought you did a very good job with the lighting too. Keep up the great work! Quote
CopMike Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 Nice little film saberwing, I enjoyed watching it ! Good lenght and story, loved the shark attack and close combat fighting. I haven´t made any film myself but still would like to comment on some small things that make it even better !? Better lights on the ship scenes, a bit dark for the colors to show everything - a few frames more in some places + try to loose the black inbetween frames. Like the sound a lot and laughed hard when I heard the Wilhelm Scream used in the end - classic ! Quote
Tereglith Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 Nice little film! As someone else has said, the blanket water effects work great. Good choice of music, too - "Up is Down" is one of my favorite tracks from POTC. Quote
saberwing Posted December 5, 2009 Author Posted December 5, 2009 try to loose the black inbetween frames. I had no black between the frames at first, but then everything comes directly after each other and everything will look rushed and difficult to understand. Thanks for all the other advice though! NewRight Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 I liked the smoke effects and I'd love to know how you did them. Great film although some parts were a little choppy it was still a nice film. Quote
Zorro Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 Very nice Brickmovie, you did very well with the effects and I like how the Pirates make beast-like sounds instead of talking! (You must be afraid you have a girly voice, isn't it ?) Quote
saberwing Posted December 7, 2009 Author Posted December 7, 2009 you did very well with the effects and I like how the Pirates make beast-like sounds instead of talking! (You must be afraid you have a girly voice, isn't it ?) I am very proud of my high pitched girly voice! I used the sound effects from LEGO Indiana jones the video game to make the video sound more LEGO-ish. Quote
