filip skywalker Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 I have searched for geocaches for some time now, and I was surprised that there wasn't a topic here about it! So here it is! Share your opinions, tell how long you have been searching for geocaches, give hints to beginners, discuss! And for you who don't know what this is about, you can read about it here. Quote
Fluyt Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 I vaguely remember hearing about this quite some time ago. This seems very interesting and fun to do, I might have to read into it some more in the near future. Thanks for bringing this to the attention. Quote
ILikePi Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 I remember reading an article about Geocaching in a Costco magazine a year or two ago! It sounds very interesting. This is one thing I'll have to do when I'm older and have a GPS. Thanks for reminding me about it though! Quote
Etzel Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 My dad discovered this about 5 years ago and showed me. We have been to a number of caches in different countries but he is much more interested than me. But it's a really fun activity to do together with our old man And with friends too. In high school me and some friends went out and searched for caches but without a GPS. On their site you can roughly see on a map where the cache is hidden so we just used that. A harder, but cheaper, way! Now it's been a long time since I was geocaching but maybe I'll join my dad sometimes. Quote
Tereglith Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 I went to a camp a few years ago at a local college where they covered the basics of GeoCaching. We even hid a cache! I got a GPS after that, but all it does is point back to my house so I've not been able to go geocachin for years. Quote
Davey Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 Stacy and I go out and do this on occasion, but not as much as we used to (spending more time building with LEGO). It's a lot of fun and a great way to get out and get some exercise. A lot of the caches in our area require some pretty good hikes to find them. There is also a town 15 miles away that has about 30 caches right in town, so you can park and just walk all over to get them. It's a very popular activity here in WI/MN. -Dave Quote
jawapro Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 Ancient topic (sorry) - but I'm looking for a Geocahcing AFOL in Europe to assist me :) I've got a TB from a cache here in Australia that's in a race back home to Europe and currently losing and I'd like to give it a jump :) If you know what TFTC means and you're in Europe, let me know :) Quote
