Gamer Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 Wow the bigest pirate ship ever.I hope that I will be able to find it.The kitchen looks great and the instrument (cant remember name)is just fantastic. Gamer. Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 Svelte is a lucky man. What a great Christmas present. I can't believe you were able to get one so early. Very nice review. I'd like to place this on my fire place once built. Packed w/ details, it truly is a fantastic set! Thanks for sharing Svelte. I'm envious. Quote
Inevitable Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 Svelte, thanks for the review! It's a must buy, definitely. Quote
def Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 Fantastic. I want it, and your review only amps up the vibe. (furiously counts his cash...) Quote
Rick Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 Very slick... And I don't mean the captain's organ. My thoughts exactly... I was also hoping for a seamen joke in that review... Oh well. LMAO... I guess I read over the review to quickly. In the spirit over Dr. Evil (Austin Powers movie), you can hear Governor Broadside say: "Welcome to my Imperial Flagship*, it's long, hard, and full of seamen." * in the movie it's Dr. Evil's 'submarine lair'. Etzel Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 Great review Svelte! I had already planned getting this set before you posted this outstanding review but it's always nice to know a bit more about the sets you intend to buy. I really like the use of red-brown technic connectors on the masts, looks much more realistic than just a flexi-tube. Looking forward to January! Quote
Commander_Rob Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 Great review, after that I really do want that set. I am not usually interested in pirates much, but this....I guess it is the ultimate Pirate ship. So I`ll start saving.... Quote
JCC1004 Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 Even though I don't like the other Pirate sets much, this one is beautiful! The detail is amazing, the colors look nice, and it's a must buy for me. I just have to come up with 180 bucks. It would look very nice on a mantle. Anyway excellent review as usual Svelte! You lucky Australian that can get awesome sets months ahead of time. Quote
Zorro Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 Amazing review, Svelte! Thanks for writing this, I am sure it will be on Classic-Pirates.com anytime soon now. Quote
Erdbeereis Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 Wow, time and time again you are the luckiest man alive Svelte. Do you have ties to the LEGO mafia or something? Awesome review, awesome set. The new sails are gorgeous, and the whole thing has so much detail. Where did you find this beauty? I assume B-link, but I wonder how anyone got it already... Quote
the wise ninja Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 wow looks to me like that ship could take on three Brick Beards Bounty's at the same time. Quote
Topsy Cret Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 Fantastic review, Svelte! Truly spectacular. I was hoping for an early review, but even this early exceeded my expectations. Although I have yet to purchase the Winter Toy Shop, so we'll have to see about a purchase... Quote
Admiral Croissant Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 This review is Superb! It really shows every part of the ship! I'm not going to buy it but I believe it is indeed the best official pirate set ever (or so far) Quote
Swash Buckler Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 Wonderful set- i love all the details- only thing could be better is ropes added- there is none- old sets had ropes and sailing ships were full of ropes- but these new ships have none Well second bad thing is that i'm not probably going get this Quote
Commodore Hornbricker Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 Outstanding review. I would like four of these and a large fries to go please. Quote
ILikePi Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 Svelte strikes again with another extremely early review of a highly anticipated set! Oh how I wish I had a job right now... Im my opinion this is a perfect example of how sets should be designed. If all sets were this detailed and had this many features, I actually wouldn't mind paying $10 or even $20 more! This set is so amazingly detailed that I can't really figure out how to describe it. You've officially become my number one favorite reviewer. Keep up the hilarious humor and stellar reviews! Sell your grandma! Quote
Athos Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 That is one nice ship. I just hope I can get a good enough price on my G'ma to afford this set. Steve Quote
Fumoffu Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 Fantastic review. Thank you very much. The only pirate set I got is Blackbeard's Bounty. This will go very nicely with it and I'm definitely going to get this. The "mixup" with the dress was very interesting to read about. Quote
General Armendariz Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 thank you so much for that fantastic review! May I ask were did you get your hands on this massive ship? I need one today With a few modificatios here and there it should be looking like the greatest ship to ever sail the seven seas! As if it isnt already Quote
UsernameMDM Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 Great review to a great model! Can't wait to own, build, then take apart and MOC this set. Quote
quietworkshop Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 Well well, this is a fantastic morning surprise! Oh Svelte. I thought this was supposed to be out 2010...must've fallen off the back of truck, huh?! I was dead set on getting two of these anyway, one to build and one to store away for a decade. Now I'm not so sure. Maybe I'll get three! Excellent review. If this is to be the last Pirates set for the forseeable future, then Lego decided to go out with a BANG! Thank you. Quote
Tacitus Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 A total must-have this year! Thanks for the early review. Quote
thelast Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 Great review, great model! Now I need to start saving money, I just got to have it. Beware Brickbeard! Quote
TheBrickHitHouse Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 Need's Modding I fear (and don't like doing that) - good few bits are undeveloped. Gun deck would be empty without those cannons and the brig is just a door. It's twice the bricks of the BSB, but not sure where those extra 800 bricks went though? Some proper rigging wouldn't have hurt It's certainly a good 'canvas' to start work on though Quote
