Zorbas Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 That's actually a good idea, though. Only if nobody's watching. Quote
The Who Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 I don't know why everyone seems to think these are indicative of new themes. Surely, if anything, it's the opposite. What would be the point of having a fun trading collectible series if the figs are going to appear mass-produced elsewhere in whole themes? That's exactly what I said earlier. If they are supposed to be Exclusive figs, the new molds will likely be reused and leftover minifig parts will probably go to the build-a-fig bins in the Lego stores, like the one in Orlando, Florida. What I am getting at is: You will not be able to stand in an aisle and rummage/feel for certain figures you will quite likely have to go to the desk and ask for som bags (or a box, if they'll sell it).Which is exactly what I am afraid will happen at all stores. That's usually how it works around here, and odds of getting what you want are even slimmer, it seems. Quote
ILikePi Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 A couple more from the business cards on Brick journals site!Brick Journal business cards 2 Cool! Nice find, thanks!I'll deeplink the two new ones for convenience: Wow, now this is a must have! Great to finally have a new female head print, and the skirt print is very well done. Nice! I love the suit, and the double colored wand is so awesome. I'm sure this is a must have for Inky. Quote
WhiteFang Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 Nabii, thanks for the link, as well as ILikePi for deeplink them. I am very excited right now, seeing the full scale of these wonderful minifigs. The Cheer Leader is very tempting, and the Magician will make another lovely tuxuedo for VIPs. Quote
jonwil Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 The figure with the revolvers is clearly a Cowboy and not an adventurer type guy, he has a longhorn cattle buckle the size of texas on his belt. LEGO probably used the fedora and not the cowboy hat because it was cheaper to produce a part they already were using in other sets than it was to restore the cowboy hat (a part they arent using in any set) Quote

It definitely wasn't a cost-cutting move - in fact, this entire series of figs seems to be a giant step away from recycling parts for convenience. I'd say it's just because the fedora looks infinitely cooler than the old cowboy hat! Quote
RileyC Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 the minifigs look so cool! I really like all the new pieces that are coming with them. My favourites are the cheer leader, the crash test dummy and the wrestler. I hope these will be easy to get Quote

I don't see any colour on the sides of her legs. I imagine that the difference in hair that you observed has more to do with the fact that the business card image is a render as opposed to an actual product. The figure will more than likely have the same hairpiece as the pirate wench you displayed. Quote

Forresto Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 Me wonders if this minifigure series might turn into a new theme just for minifigures if this wave is popular. Who knows? I mean playmobil's similar line called "special" has been very popular. I deffinantly know just from how much of them I buy alone, will be enough to carry out the line . Just kidding but seriously i'm going to buy a lot of these probably thirty or forty who knows. Quote

David Thomsen Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 (edited) Me wonders if this minifigure series might turn into a new theme just for minifigures if this wave is popular. Who knows? I mean playmobil's similar line called "special" has been very popular. I've been thinking about the idea of 'minithemes'. Like, instead of having a range of seven sets with the same theme, there could a range of seven sets with different themes. For example... one prehistoric set, one Roman set, one circus set, one cowboy set, one pirate set and one viking set. They could feature themes that don't currently have a line of their own, or are too small to warrant a theme. There might not be many people who will get all the sets, but every collector will have at least one they want. And it'll be a way to keep, for example, Klaus-Dieter content while the Western theme is inactive. Especially if each set has brand new 'unique' minifigs, like this collection of sixteen. Peppermint_M Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 It would cost a lot of money for mini themes with unique figures. I know these figures are going to cost a lot to produce too, but they will sell exactly the same numbers of units due to the blind bags. If a minitheme set in a series of minithemes (or should that be micro?) isn't popular, the kids don't want it, Lego make a loss on it and have boxes and boxes of unwanted themes that we will all buy in clearance (Like how Jack Stone/ 4Juniors town ended up in my local Woolworths). With these figures they'll sell all of them in such a volume that lots of money will be made. Quote
David Thomsen Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 Oh yeah... I guess with the blindpacking, even the unpopular ones (diver?) will be sold. Quote
Lordofdragonss Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 I looked carefully on the picture again (because I bored) and this what I see: Robot have Agents robot arms. It looks like diver have new diving glasses, Wrestler have a cape, nurse have a new ponytail hair. Quote

Lordofdragonss Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 If I may ask, where is the proof these are figures I thought they were collectible buttons? Exactly this figures are in retail catalog too. This "Theme" its called Minifigures. Quote
Piranha Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 Was this discussed already? From Brickset.com The Swedish LEGO blog legobloggen has an interesting bit of news about a collectable series of minifigs to be available next year:"In June 2010, Lego will launch a new collectors series with only minifigs. The figures will be of various types, but is reportedly not being those from current themes. They could be anything from cowboys to ninjas or adventurers, etc. The first wave will appear in stores in June, reportedly contain 16 different characters. These will then be replaced by 16 other figures in August. "Figures will be sold in opaque polybags, so it is chance that determines which figure you get. This is the same approach as in the example trading cards. The bag with the figure will cost 25 SEK. May seem much given to impulse setter costs only £ 5 more and then there is also the accessories. But I suspect that the high price is because the characters will be unique to this collector series and that they will only be produced in two months (at least the first wave)." (thanks et314 for the news and translation) This is very interesting, but I don't like the idea of them being in opaque bags! Update 2: We're seeing information from a number of sources that suggest each bag will contain a selection of parts from across the range of the 16 figures, and not a specific figure as had previously been supposed. So a single bag you buy might contain the Clown's hair, the Zombie's head, the Robot's body, and the Cheerleader's legs. That possibly the bags are opaque? I wont be able to pick the ones I want then and possibility of disappointment is high Also what is this that each bag will have different parts and not even a complete fig? This can frustrate people because what if they buy alot of these bags and keep getting the same parts over and over again? If true, thank goodness for Bricklink Quote
