Batbrick Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 Hey EB, it's been a long time since I posted a new Batman creation, or heck, a new creation full stop. That's changing now as I'm planning to construct some sweet Gotham venues, starting with Killer Croc's Sewer Lair: (Please excuse some of the lesser quality photos as my camera is pretty iffy) I always wanted to do this for Croc, not because he's my favourite character or anything, far from it. The reason was that so many great bits of Batman stories can involve the sewers, which seems to simply crawling with escaping villains. It's also part of a big plan I'm establishing that shall remain mysteriously secretive for now: The back is somewhat less elegant, but the "roof", that is the road, can be taken off fairly easily and used as a normal setup, whch is quite useful. The side walls also have this feature though I don't show it in any of the pics because I was lazy while taking them A glimpse inside the absurdly spacious yet atmospheric sewer, complete with creepy-crawly and rat: Crocodiles in the sewers a myth eh? This one begs to differ: The rest of the wall: Killer Croc's lair includes a mysterious key, safe likely filled with stolen goods, desk with fish, crystal, drink and money, barrels and crates filled with food and weapons, torches and an escape hatch down another tunnel: Snarl. Batman investigates a manhole... Dives down... Beats up a crocodile... And prepares to beat up another one. Hope you guys enjoyed, and comments really appreciated, thanks for looking in! Batbrick Away! Quote
Commander Assassin Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 I love it! I think it was quite clever to add brown to the gray to make it look rusted. So when do I get my cupcake? Quote
prateek Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 (edited) Awesome! I love every single part of it! I love how you did the sewer hole thing and, as Clone Commander Assassin said, the rust looks really good. Batman looks badass on that black bike too Where's my cupcake? Edited November 11, 2009 by prateek Quote
harrysnapperorgans Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Fantastic MOC, and I'm not just saying that for the cupcake. I love MOC's with depth like this, because there is a lot of stuff going on underneath us all the time. My only coment is that Batman's motorbike looks a little plain, maybe you should brickbuild him something. There are some great Triumph designs in the Town & Trains section that might inspire you. Nice work. Ben Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 (edited) I love the Moc, but I'm not so sure about the light gray, but that's just a minor thing. the killer croc has to be one of the best lego minifigs for starears, random alien mocs, dungeons and Dragon mocs, ect... it's a shame I don't have him. what's with all this cupcake talk, I want one Oh.... Me! Me! I want a cupcake toooo Edited November 11, 2009 by dannylonglegs Quote
WhiteFang Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 It's has been a long time since I last saw any Batty creations from you. Are you going to build modular scenes of different villans? Because it appears that you are going to build the roads in this manner by linking those up, and I like how you placed this scene together with Batman in action and showcase Killer Croc's liar. I like the manhole feature the best, as it really shows the fun action that Batman wrestle beneath the sewer. Keep those buildings coming. Quote
phillip10 Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Gret moc! I like how you put in some indiana jones characters too! Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Very nice Batbrick. As a fan of Batman, I really like this sewer lair. First, let me start by pointing out the nice street design with the clever use of the gray roof panels. I would never have thought of using these for a street, adding the white stripes, and the other section with the tiles. Great design idea! It's nice to see you incorporate the Shanghai mobster vehicle, which works very well with the Batman theme. Delving into the depths beneath the secret manhole cover is where all the action continues. I love the design of the pipes which gives me an idea for something I was planning to build (if I can get enough grey). Crocs, chains, sewer water, all of which are nice additions to the underground sewer. I like the ladders climbing up. It's scenes like these that are both extremely "playable" but at the same time immensely detailed making a "top notch" MOC. I'm also very impressed with your entire concept of creating a sewer lair under an action-packed street. This makes me want to break out the old Batman sets and get building. Sweet! and quite deserving of a front page blog. Quote
Batbrick Posted November 11, 2009 Author Posted November 11, 2009 Fools! The cake is a lie! No seriously, thanks ofr the comments everyone! I love it! I think it was quite clever to add brown to the gray to make it look rusted. Thanks, funnily enough I wasn't going to have grey until I realised I didn't have enough light grey slopes to finish it, but I agree it turned out better. My only coment is that Batman's motorbike looks a little plain, maybe you should brickbuild him something. There are some great Triumph designs in the Town & Trains section that might inspire you. Thanks for the criticism harrysnapperorgans, while the bike has some mods thatm ake it less plain than it was, I do agree. I have made a mod of the Harley Quinn set batbike, but I will check out the suggestion you offered, appreciated I love the Moc, but I'm not so sure about the light gray, but that's just a minor thing. I can understand being unsure of the light grey, but I think it oyu saw what it looked like as all dark grey you might change your mind, as a miniature test version I did looked to one-toned. It's has been a long time since I last saw any Batty creations from you. Are you going to build modular scenes of different villans? I'm definitely going to be constructing some more Batvillain hideouts, and am halfway through making Wayne Manor, my biggest creatio yet (though my creation's a mostly small). I don't think they'll be modular, but I do hope certain parts of them like the interchangeable road in this one to exist. Gret moc! I like how you put in some indiana jones characters too! Actually that's just a woman in a head Burqa, I wanted to show a bit of cultural diversity. Very nice Batbrick. As a fan of Batman, I really like this sewer lair. Sweet! and quite deserving of a front page blog. Thanks a heap for the front page TheBrickster! Really appreciated! I'm glad you like the roof panels, they weren't all that useful to me and I felt it worked well as the road for this part. The manhole was frustrating to design but I'm glad I did, it adds a fun feature. The mobster vehicle is great for Batman yes, though I am planning to mods it soon. Batbrick AWay! Quote
The Penguin Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Great MNoc, indeed, Batbrick! ) It's just ysterday when I was thinking about the lack ogf Bat-Mocs around, and here it is! ) I really love the design of the lair, it does give us the right feeling of the villain. And it's very clever to use brown parts to give that rusty feeling to the scene. ) Keep the good work up! ) Quote
Ras 74 Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 That is a really nice looking MOC you´ve done Batbrick! Nice details as usual. Quote
Dadster Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Very cool man!! Love the sewer portion the most, with those brilliant colors/ schemes. Quote
Big Cam Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Poor batman almost gets forgotten in my memory because LEGO stopped producing them and barely anyone reviews them or builds with them. Enter Batrbrick! What a stellar setup. THe street is a street and looks good, but the sewer area is great. I love the detail you incorporated, like the weird brown tentacle thing coming out of the wall, or the occasional green piece in the water, hey it's a sewer. I've never even seen the croc character in LEGO form before so that's a plus from me. This is onf of those MOC's where I'd be afreaid to take it apart because it's soo good. <<<I'm a mutant with 3 thumbs. Excellent MOC, deserves a frontpage. Quote
Milan Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 (edited) What a creepy lair! Excellent MOC! I like very much how you did the interior of the Croc's lair! Great! Edited November 11, 2009 by Milan Quote
???theriddler??? Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Thats just AMAZING, love it! Quote
Sir Dillon Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Well done Batbrick! Killer Croc is not one of my favourite characters, but it seems he often gets overlooked, so it's good to see a creation focusing around him. I like the use of brown, giving the sewer a nice rusty and dirty feel. Quote
Zorro Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 What a nice MOC, well done Batbrick! I love how you've done the sewers and his lair/desk is awesome too. Furthermore I very much like the escape route on the side and the actionscene above Killer Croc. Quote
iamded Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 Fantastic MOC mate! The street scene in itself is wonderfully set up, nicely topping the awesome sewer system you've made. Dark, grimy, grisly, I love it! And Croc sitting upon his throne surrounded by hordes of loot. Awesome. The leaking pipes are great, and as always I'm lovin' the chains. Overall a fantastic scene you've got here! Great job buddy, I look forward to seeing more! Quote
CommanderFox Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 Very nice Batrbrick I really like the sewer and the manhole Great job and looking forward to finding out what this secret is CommanderFox Quote

I'm glad people like the "rusted" look, considering I had to use the brown due to a lack of pieces And I hope to flood the forum with a few more Batmocs! That is a really nice looking MOC you´ve done Batbrick!Nice details as usual. Thanks Ras 74, my mocing skills aren't that great so my main aim is to spice up my creations with some details. Thanks a heap Big Cam, the tentacle thing is actually just a root, but thinking about it the idea of the being a little more than just Croc down there is intriguing. I don't think I'll be taking this apart, atleast anytime soon as I have plans for my creations currently. Well done Batbrick! Killer Croc is not one of my favourite characters, but it seems he often gets overlooked, so it's good to see a creation focusing around him. I like the use of brown, giving the sewer a nice rusty and dirty feel. Thanks Sir Dillion, I'm not a huge fan of Killer Croc either though his fig is great, but I'm planning something special, though it might not come about till late next year. Fantastic MOC mate! The street scene in itself is wonderfully set up, nicely topping the awesome sewer system you've made. Dark, grimy, grisly, I love it! And Croc sitting upon his throne surrounded by hordes of loot. Great to see you bud, long time no see! I'm glad you like it, I always appreciate you commenting Great job and looking forward to finding out what this secret is Thanks CommanderFoz, though I'm afraid there is a chance this "secret" won't even be made, and if it is it's about a year off. Batbrick Away! Quote
harrysnapperorgans Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 Hey there buddy, I have seen any cup cakes yet. Do I need to send my boys up there? Quote
Legostein Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 Hello! Although I am not sure if I understood the last comment, I'd like to add my favourites in this great scene to those that have already been pointed out. First of all I am impressed by the realistic sewer scene. Building a chaotic and messy looking location like a sewer is often more difficult than building a nicely layed out symmetrical scene. Furtermore I like that safe. It's quite simple to build, and using these hinge plates to create a thick steel-reinforced door works our excellently. Everything well done here! ~ Christopher Quote
Righteous Squid Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 Wonderful MOC. Killer Croc's sewer hideout is something I have really wanted to see in Lego and I love all the details and the use of colours. I will probably borrow a few ideas should I ever get around to doing my own, if thats OK with you. Look forward to seeing more Quote
LuxorV Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 Ok, first of all, I obviously missed this 'till now On the MOC, you really put a lot of work into this scene/diorama. I like the detail you were able to include in the lair itself and even in the 'cover' action on the street. And I really like the photography: I'm always pleased to see how you manage to insert at least one shot which makes us feel we are in the action (of course, I'm referring to the 'Batman discovers Croc's lair' shot in this case). As WF said, I'd like to see more 'modular' scene for the other villains by you too. So, keep it up LuxorV Quote
