Darth Legolas Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 I need some advice from the Star Wars video gamer experts. I saw this ad on brickshelf: I clicked the link, they are not Star Wars related. Is it legal for them to do this? Sorry if this belongs in culture and multimedia, but I figured more Star Wars fans would be here. Thanks! Quote
prateek Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 I don't think that is legal, but it might just be. I don't know if the actual design of the JSF is copyrighted or if the advertisers actually got the right to use the design Quote
user Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 I played that game last year and got really far. I wouldn't worry it has a different name so I doubt they would get in trouble that game is petty old. Quote
prof1515 Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 In all likelihood it is not legal. However, the web is flooded with games violating intellectual property laws and most of the time such violations are not caught. Quote

RileyC Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Yea it seems to be a rip off. Its probably not even that popular for lucasarts to worry about Quote
Big Cam Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 It all depends on a few things. 1. Did Lucasarts copyright the design of the JSF 2. Does Lucasarts even know about thios obviously not popular game 3. Does Lucasarts even care enough to file a suite against the probably now backcrupt game company. It is clearly a blatant ripoff but I kind of doubt Lucasart even cares, with the tons and tons of things they have created, it's be hard to keep tabs on all of them. Quote
Skipper 24 Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Ha, I've seen loads of game ads like that, most of them have nothing to do with the actual game. I've seen that same game advertised with COD4 screen shots and similar from various other shooters. Also I've seen plenty with other various Sci-Fi craft, however I'm not sure where they are from. Commander_Rob Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 I don`t know wether that is copyright infringement, but what I can tell you is that the game was promoted on television here in Germany a while ago and that was pretty big, it was put on the stations games-themed webpage. There actually is a starship looking just like this in the game (I played it just to find out!), none of the other craft had any similarity to vehicles I had seen before, Star Wars or else. So probably it is just this one for advertising. Quote

On the dutch tv there where commurcials about that game. Quote
