Starwars4J Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 Well that type of thing would really go in the community forum, this thread is about the discussion of Batman Lego ;) Quote

ChewyLuke Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 Posts by Dark1 and Kikuichimomji suggest that some posters still don't appreciate that a licence to use Batman is not a licence to use all things DC. I simply responded to these posts. Well it should be obvious that I said that TLC only had the Batman license and not the DC license (which also includes Spiderman). I know how licensing works just fine, thanks... um.... Spider-man is marvel? And, as it has already been stated,Batman is the only one with a lot of good vehicles and toys. The rest wouldn't really make good sets. Quote

reideen1313 Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 Sheesh! Didn't mean to cause such controversy! :$ When I was in Enfield, one of the questions that we were asked is 'what else do you want to see from this line?" Here's kind of how the conversation went: Me: "A light up Batsignal." LEGO: "Ok. What else?" Me: "Martha and Thomas Wayne's grave - it's an iconic part of Batman, although, since it's a graveyard, LEGO might not want to do it..." LEGO: "Well, we just did a Harry Potter graveyard, so, maybe." (Which is the whole reason I purchased the HP Graveyard set! :-D ) Me: "What characters can you do? What eras? What sources?" LEGO: "We can do anything that touches the Batman universe." Me: "Then I want...." (this is where I gave them my laundry list of characters - Harley, Bane, Green Arrow, Superman, Black Canary, Oracle, Batgirl, JLA, etc etc.) In a nutshell, that was part of the discussion. *satis* Hope that helps! Dragon King Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 mabey he'll be a surprise charater in the later Batman sets if they make more Why would we get Superman in a Batman set? It isn't Marvel vs. Capcom or something like that :P And besides, even if they would only give us one single Superman MF in one single set, they would still have to pay for the entire license. TLC isn't stupid, they'll either give us an entire Superman line or nothing at all. UMMM they are both DC Superheros. That would be awsome if they did make JLA legos. :oD UMMMM NO! Licencing doesn't work like that. LEGO either has licence to use Batman and related properties, or in the alternative, they have a licence to use the complete pantheon of DC characters. Right now, it looks like this licence is limited to Batman. Sure, its possible that the licence may go further than what has already been revealed to the public. On the other hand, simply because LEGO has obtained licence to use Batman doesn't automatically grant them licence over any other DC intellectual property. Licencing agreements are usually very strict. In short, unless DC has expressly granted LEGO licence over other non-Batman characters, I wouldn't expect to see Superman anytime soon. Of course, if this line does well, its entirely possible that LEGO and DC might explore that option. Later. Sorry i did not mean they could do superman or JL i was correcting him about saing Marvel vs Capcom it's actually DC vs DC Quote
Vader Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 :) reideen1313 it seems that you have asked all the right questions, so thanks for the info. Quote
Chuck Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 ?um? what stop posting useless posts already >:( *EDIT* Post taken out by Vader :) Quote
JoeMI6 Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 I think Lego Superman wouldn't be too good as a franchise, it's not popular enough among kids of today and also there aren't very many options for Lego to branch out with superman as the villians and situations are mostly the same. Quote
Steff Posted January 20, 2006 Author Posted January 20, 2006 I think the chance to see more DC Heros then Marvel heros is big, because Lego hasn't any Marvel- license more. I am optimistically for Superman, because the new film comes out. There are only a few Heros from DC that are popular like Batman, catwoman, Superman, the flash , JUSTICE LEAGUE or aquaman. Maybe the relationsship between WB/DC and Lego works so good, that we see other license-themes like scooby doo or looney tunes. sorry for my english :) Quote
The Middleman Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 (edited) LEGO Superman... what an interesting idea! Maybe to tie into Superman Returns? Probably wouldn't come until next year, though... Edited February 19, 2006 by Bloody Jay Quote

Kikuichimonji Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 I hate "hints" like that  You're never sure whether they're real or not. Then again, Jay wouldn't dig up an old topic like this for no reason. Not like I'd care for Superman Lego though... Quote

slimer Posted February 20, 2006 Posted February 20, 2006 What If They Made The Green Lantern Legos??? It Would be Sweet Quote
Dragon King Posted February 20, 2006 Posted February 20, 2006 Yeah they might just make superman legos since the new movie is coming. But what would they be able to make? A couple of buildings? Quote
Vader Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 Thats where i see the problems with a superman line DK, sure i would love some superman figs but i believe that the only sets we would get would end up being like the spideman ones and after the new batman ones this would be a big let down.
