Athos Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 Lets go fly a kite; Up to the highest height; Lets go fly a kite; And send it soaring; Up through the atmosphere; Up where the air is clear; Oh, lets go-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh; Fly a kite! I thought a kite flying scene would be nice for the Asian category of the CCC, so I went to look for kite designs and found none. So I decided to try to develop my own. But I don't think I'm going to get around to building the scene for the contest, I wanted to at least show off the designs. And maybe see if anyone else had better ones. http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Misc/kite1.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Misc/kite2.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Misc/kite3a.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Misc/kite3b.jpg Steve Quote
Ratshot Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 Gotta love the song The kites are...OK, they just seem to bulky/boxy Quote
prateek Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 I agree with Ratshot, but it's understandable because there aren't really that many good pieces for kites. Quote
phillip10 Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 Those are pretty good kites! I havent flown one in awhile! Quote
zouave Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 Theres not too much you can do to make a good kite with legos but you did best possible. Is that song from Mary Poppins? Quote

Forresto Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 Better?http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Misc/kite4.jpg Steve Did you do that one because it's very good. I really love the first one too but it is a bit bulky. Quote
vmln8r Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 I think they are pretty cool. They are plastic blocks after all. The first picture especially give the impression of a kite flying in the breeze. They would make a great addition to a park diorama. Quote
Legostein Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 Hello! A very inventive idea! I think I have not yet seen any brick-built kite. I think that asian kites are buitl a bit different from common kites I know, with many air filling pockets that give a final shape. So I guess they look more voluminous when filled with air in the sky. Clever idea! Cheers, ~ Christopher Quote
Milan Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 Me and my father built one kite that looks just like yours in this picture http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Misc/kite4.jpg It was pretty big, but flew fantastic! Thanks for making this nice MOC and reminding me on that! Quote
