Nope, while the sales have indicated for awhile that they're "going out of business", today when I went to the bank (which is near a TRU), there was a TRU representitive with a sign saying that they're going out of business, and everything is 30% off. I'm going tomorrow after a little trip to Social Security (I recently got my name changed)

I had not heard that TRU was going out of business. It's too bad if they are though. They have the largest supply/variety of Lego sets where I live. I have noticed that the stores always seem slow. This is probably a result of Walmart and Target discounting their toys periodically which really gives them a lot of competition.

Lego is becoming less and less on the shelves of the toy stores. At least TRU maintained good supply.

Just out of interest what was your old name and what did you change it to? :D

Well, it's a rather long story, but to make it short I was abused when I was 4, and now that I'm almost out of college, I finally got my name changed to my mother's maiden name. Keep in mind that I've been living "illegally" by this name my entire life ;) When I was in elementary school, I refused to be called by my "legal" last name, and only by my mother's maiden last name. My principal was very understanding, and my Elementary school diploma was given to Justin DeNise (DeNise being my mother's maiden name). From then on, all my diplomas, and college entrance forms were filled out by Justin DeNise. My school even accepted "Justin DeNise", before he was technically there ;) So I finally changed my name (legally) to Justin DeNise, and while I've gotten a new drivers lisence (and even birth certificate!), I still need to get it changed at the bank, and Social Security. Which I'm doing tomorrow

And so ends my rather boring tale, now back to the TRU tragedy!

Our TRU has (had) a huge Lego selection, and it seems to move very briskly. The shelves were basically empty except for Bionicle, some Racers, and Duplo by Xmas time, and not replenished for boxing day. Starwars, Harry Potter (except the Durmstrang ship, which no one seems to want), Vikings, KK, Construction, Technic, Ferrari, Xpods. All sold out.

I'm in Toronto, though. Unofficial Lego capital of the world. Haven't heard about closings here.

I rarely buy significant amounts from TRU though - their sales are not that great, and their regular prices are the same as Shop at Home, so I prefer to get stuff from S@H. It seems clear that TRU cannot compete. Too bad though, I despise Walmart (ugly stores with no special displays, always a mess, dirty, no employees to be found except at the cash, yata yata yata).

The TRU nearest to me is closing. The sale is 10%-30%. LEGO and most of the good toys are only at 10% off. Not even a sale price. I will wait to buy at 50% off or more. Kind of sad for me. No more exclusive stuff like Vikings or the KK double packs. :'(

The upside is that they got in a decent amount of Exo Force just before Christmas. So I should be able to get some good stuff at a nice price.
