Mortymore Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 (edited) MOD of the Front Loader 8265 This MOD consists basically on motorization and remote control of the Front Loader 8265, achieved essentially by following instructions made available by Attila, and you can find them here: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=399314 The video made by Attila: During construction I realized that there were some parts in stress in his MOD, so I solved that in my one way, and apart from that there's not much difference between my MOD and his. For further details go to my BS folder: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=404546 Video of my MOD on youtube: The MOD has the following Power Function parts: 1 - Battery box 8881 1 - XL motor 8882 3 - M motor 8883 2 - IR receivers 8884 2 - IR remote controls 8885 1 - LED lights 8870 4 - Linear actuators (1 was added, 3 came with the 8265 Loader) I consider this a 1st MOD, since it's my intention to do it all again but in my one way. Following Attila instructions was very educational though, and gave me a general idea of what to achieve. Best regards Edited October 29, 2009 by Mortymore Quote
Big Cam Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 Wow, KUDO's on getting it complete. You cant even tell there is a motor inside. It still looks "stock" Quote
Milan Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 Finally Technic forum lives a little bit. Excellent MOD. You did a good job, and as I can read you have even improved Atila's design. Very nice... I have luck to know Atilla, exchange ideas and parts with him. He is in a next town and is a really nice guy. Quote

I'm sure he is a nice guy. He must be, to have all the trouble to take a lot of pictures to help others replicate his MOD. Send him please, my best regards and my gratitude. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- By the way... When I built the MOD, I was curious about the current consumption of the Loader stuffed with all that PF elements, so I came up with a rudimentary and simple idea to measure the current draw from the battery box 8881. Since I have assembled in the Loader the PF LED lights 8870, and as long the power is ON, the lights are always ON, the current consumption with no motor running is 50mA. Playing a bit the Loader, and probably with a motor M 8883 stalled at some point, the peak current measured was 1268mA. Jetro Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 Very nice. I need to have a closer look at the pictures you put in your galery to apply the same or similar mods to mine Quote
CP5670 Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 That looks like a great mod. I might want to try it myself at some point. The full load current is pretty high and would trip the current limiters on most of the old 9V power sources. I guess the PF battery box is designed to be able to handle it. Quote
Mortymore Posted October 30, 2009 Author Posted October 30, 2009 (edited) The 1268mA is a current peak the multimeter registered as the highest value. It was set to record peaks with the minimum duration of 100ms. I know that the video is dark, and the image is not very sharp, but may be eventually seen that the regular value to be attained when a motor is running is not much over 300mA. Higher values occur occasionally, like 600...800mA. But don't be deceived by a 1268mA current peak that happened once. In another test session the maximum attained was 780mA. The 1268mA was the highest I ever measured. Regards PS: In case you are wondering... I didn't hacked my battery box to bypass the current limiter http://blog.tepper.cz/archive/2008/11/11/m...ego-motoru.aspx Edited October 30, 2009 by Mortymore Quote
junglistjoey Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 wow I like alot Any chance to make the instructions a bit clearer? Quote
