NewRight Posted October 24, 2009 Posted October 24, 2009 This is my own rendition of Rex from StarWars the Clone Wars. Please keep in mind this is a very, very, rough sketch of Rex. I am mostly satisfied with the decals. Helmet designs are also decals other than basic LEGO printed patterns. I plan on redoing all of the decals and modifying the pauldron to a dark grey color with black stripes between each segmented section. I also want to add modified clips to the waistcape. The paint also has to be cleaned up, but still I really do like this figure so far. Head decals are modified version of: this and torso, arms, and legs are borrowed from Chaotic Good. Remember very rough. Quote
Commander Flash Posted October 24, 2009 Posted October 24, 2009 Excellent Rex! The Pauldron looks great, the kama is coming along nicely, and the arms are perfect. The helmet is a little bland, but since its rough, you'll have time to make it more detailed. Good job. Quote
NewRight Posted October 25, 2009 Author Posted October 25, 2009 (edited) I will be adding much more blue to the area around the visor and a little beneath it. I will also have additional little blue triangles on the back. I'm hoping to add much more detail to the back and I agree about the roughness of the kama. Can anyone tell me if the kama is suppose to be dark grey or black. In the LEGO sets it looks dark grey, but on action figures and in the shows its black with a blue outline. If you look closely you'll also see the torso is slightly customized and if I removed the pauldron more details could also be seen. I think I have the wrong brand of details as I ordered 2 packs from Testors, but the first pack applied quick and easy and with this pack I am pulling and struggling to get decals off of there sheet. You'll notice the arm decal is very crunched up look as with the custom leg decals. Edited October 25, 2009 by NewRight Quote

NewRight Posted October 25, 2009 Author Posted October 25, 2009 He does have two yellow spots on each side of the helmet, but due to the photograph glare and there small size they were washed out. I will have to make them larger and darker to be better seen in photographs. Quote
CommanderFox Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 (edited) Very nice NewRight even though it's 'rough', it's Great! Love the arms and legs aswell Well done! CommanderFox Edited October 26, 2009 by CommanderFox Quote
Capt. Kirk Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 Looks cool... but have you ever tried to use some masking tape and spray paint... the sell little spray cans. Quote
NewRight Posted October 27, 2009 Author Posted October 27, 2009 I have all intentions of picking up new paint. It just seems the hobby shop I visit is closed whenever I seem to have the free time to go. I think right now all I have is water based paint and it simply isn't working. Quote

I think you should try Acrylic paint, maybe that'd be better then Water based, for this plastic. CommanderFox Quote
Big Cam Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 If I were to make a Rex, I thinkI'd have more blue on the helmet as opposed to the accesories, but I'm too chicken. I like the fin being blue, and the leg artwork Quote
