Legoliner Pilot Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 After building 10199 Winter Toy Shop, I couldn't help but think that a summer scene could be possible too. I have been toying with the idea of a playground for about a week or so, and when I saw the castle balcony piece under LDD, I just couldn't resist the urge. This is what resulted. You get nine minfigures, five adults and four children. The adults include a postman, traffic director (far left in the image), worried grandmother, mother (the one with the black hair), and father (the figure with the mechanic outfit). The children include a girl, boy with glasses, a boy with a classic town face, and an angry boy. You also get the family dog. This picture also shows the west entrance to the main play structure, a BURP rock wall with colorful "stepping rocks". You can also see that there are lamps all around to keep it illuminated in the late afternoon and even the evening. There is a few other features that you can see, but I'll discuss them later when you can get a better view at them. Here is a top-down view of the entire playground. It gives you a pretty good view of all the interior features of the play structure. These include a log-cabin like stairway with colorful decorations on the top. The wooden stair is made up of round columns and the like, as you can see. You can also view the sliding poles (ropes if you want), castle balconies, and the entrance from the rock wall. The balconies both have play viewing devices; the left one has a stationary spyglass, and the balcony in the top middle has a pair of 360-degree binoculars. Here is a left view of the playground. You can see the log-like detail of the main staircase (it is the same on both sides if you haven't noticed) to the structure. The reason I made it look like a log cabin was because in playground catalogs, most companies in the US use wood on the support and other features of the play structure. You can also see the exotic plants that have recently started growing the playground. No one in the community knows where they came from, but they make the playground smell nice. Here is another view of the structure, only thing left to tell you about is the bench. It seats three adults and is 12 studs long. Here is some other random pictures: --- I hoped you enjoyed my playground! Thank you for view this topic. Quote
prateek Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 That looks great! One thing I would suggest is to make a slide, but other than that, it's amazing! Quote
Legoliner Pilot Posted October 18, 2009 Author Posted October 18, 2009 That looks great! One thing I would suggest is to make a slide, but other than that, it's amazing! Well, I was going to add a slide, but I was unsure of were to start. Maybe the members or Eurobricks can help me? Quote
Legostein Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 Hello! A good idea! Playground are also more rarely designed. They many coloured slopes give it already an inviting touch, but as mentioned, some more kids attractions would enrich this already great MOC. You have so many edges and corners to attach more thing, that this won't be a problem for you. Cheers, ~ Christopher Quote
BlueBard Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 This would be a nice design indeed With some more little attractions and kids it would be a perfect summer exclusive set Quote
Legoliner Pilot Posted October 18, 2009 Author Posted October 18, 2009 Okay, I was thinking about adding monkey bars and a sandbox. What do you guys think? Quote
prateek Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 Well, I was going to add a slide, but I was unsure of were to start. Maybe the members or Eurobricks can help me? Maybe start where the spyglass is and end up where the dog is And a sandbox is a good idea, but for that you should add one more baseplate to make room. Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 That's a very nice MOC, Legoliner Pilot! I really it! The playground looks really nice! Adding some more attachements for playing such as e. g. a slide and/or a swing would be nice - but I know that in LDD it's a bit difficult. The idea of making a castle playground is great! Very well done! Klaus-Dieter Quote
Dennimator Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 Well, I was going to add a slide, but I was unsure of were to start. Maybe the members or Eurobricks can help me? Cough. Quote
