Teddy Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 Not mine, a surprise find. Dear all, I'm visiting my girlfriend who is in Helsinki (Finland) for a few months for an internship. Yesterday, we went to Turku and there we visited Turku Castle. wiki link: Link to Turku Castle on Wiki Almost at the end of the museum tour, inside the castle, we found this marble! A Lego model of the castle. The exact scale and builder are unknown to me. I cannot remember ever seeing any photos of this castle MOC before. So without further ado, here are the photos. As a small tribute to the original builder. (If anybody knows the builder I would be glad to hear) Kind regards, Teddy Front view: Side view: Another Side view: Quote
Etzel Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 Nice find! It's been 12 years since I was visiting Turku so I don't remember if it was there then. It's a really impressive model, I wish there were more museums/castles that realises that LEGO is the perfect material for making models. Quote
Batbrick Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 My goodness that's fantastic! Thanks for posting this find Teddy, I especially love the studded roof look and the mixed greys look. The round tower especially is fantastic. Batbrick Away! Quote
Commodore Hornbricker Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 Great find. Its very well built. You have to love round walls and round roofs...seriously...you have to! It just needs a little more achitectural detail to make it a little more interesting. Quote
Sir Dillon Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 Very cool! The builder did a good job capturing the angles of the castle, and the style of mottling looks nice. The model doesn't look to be built in minifigure scale, but I think some minifig tourists roaming around could be fun, and add some life to the display. Thanks for sharing Teddy! Quote
BlueBard Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 Wow! One of the hugest LEGO castles I've ever seen. Really nice find, Teddy, thanks for sharing! Quote
