Dart-Revan Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 Here is my first MOC on EuroBricks. Hope you will enjoy it. Mini-scale 'Venator' cruiser. I ask for your comments =) Quote
RepublicForces Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 Sorry to day but this dousn't looks like an venator. Quote
Ratshot Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 Sorry to day but this doesn't looks like an venator. I'm afraid that I have to agree with republicForces. There's no real resemblance Don't get me wrong though, it does look nice for a mini If I were you I would replace the red with burgundy and revamp the bridge area. Also consider making it a little thinner, right now it's about 20% wider than what it should be. Ratshot Quote
Forresto Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 this is ... alright but you should look more closely at a reference photo of it because the coloring is somewhat off. The shape is really good but the bridge tops should be longer. Quote
Big Cam Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 The shape and size for a mini is spot on but the coloring is off. Sorry to agree with all the others but it looks like a venator shape, and that's about it. Quote
CommanderFox Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 It's not that bad, good job Maybe you should take alook at some pics of the Venator This is the current Lego Mini version of it. Hope this helps CommanderFox Quote
Legoman Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 Let us not forget folks, this is his first MOC. All our skills have come from years of practice, so to be honest, i think this is a good attempt considering his current backround of Lego skills. As other have noted, there is definately room for improvement - Coulouring, shape. Prehaps you want some inspirataion? I know it always helps me when MOCing Anything from Official pics , to Lego sets, all the way though to other fan made MOCs of similar or the same things. I say great work, and keep practicing, that way you'll gain some great MOCing skills - which we all need in this business Quote
Legostein Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 (edited) Hello there, and welcome to MINI building! Despite other comments, I think this ship has strong similarities with the Venator. There are the sloped twin bridges, the cutout in the general wedge shape and side-mounted guns. There are some things you could improve starting by removing the middle engine (which it actually does not have) and add a 75° 2x2x3 slope as back fin. Then add 2 1x8 red tiles and place them centered onto the dark grey wedges on the top. You will have to remove that centered cannon which the original also does not have. And look! You just did a Venator! Personally I live the idea that you can find something good in ANY moc regardless if the builder is a professional or a beginner. We're here to motivate people in building, this including hints on how they could improve it. MINI building is not as easy as it seems to many people.
