L-space Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 Are there any people that are attending the event and would like to ride on their bike?I am going to ride from Amsterdam, perhaps we can meet up somewhere and ride together. Shoot me a PM if you are in. Are you talking about the Eurobricks event in Billund in april? Just for clarification. Allthough I would like to come, I am afraid I just don't have the time to attend. Shoot me a PM if you are in. Sure.. just gimme a motorcycle and a fake drivers license! Seriously though, I´d like to, but have some obvious problems with it.. Maybe in 2 years. Quote
Big Cam Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 I'd love to go, but I'm in the wrong Country. Quote
Clone OPatra Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 I'd love to go, but I'm in the wrong Country. If you've got the cash, no problem! Seriously though, I think this discussion is starting to belong in the Events forum, unless a motorcycle enthusiast here actually wants to ride with CGH in which case it's still about riding motorcycles. Sure.. just gimme a motorcycle and a fake drivers license! Seriously though, I´d like to, but have some obvious problems with it.. Maybe in 2 years. So you would ride through Denmark to get to Amsterdam and then ride back to Denmark? I'd love to go, but I'm in the wrong Country. Where is wrong? Maybe it is on the way? But you would be welcome to put your bike on a ship and get over here. No it is still about riding, if anybody wants to plan other rides they might as well do it in here. Quote

Zorbas Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 How are things in your country when it comes to helmets? Here in Greece every rider is obliged by the law to wear one and if he does not, there is a pretty high fine fot it. Plus, he gets negative points in his record. 27 negative points and you have to give exams all over again to obtain the license. One more thing that it has been debated is pricing. Many riders and rider clubs say that there should have been a lower or no VAT on the helmet's price since the law forces you to wear one. The current VAT is 19%. Quote

Unfortunetaly alot of states only require eye protection, such as sunglasses. If you are under 18 you are required to wear a helmet, in almost every state i think. Funny/stupid story: I live on the border of two states, North Dakota, and Minnesota, I live in North Dakota and they have no law at all regarding helmets, but Minnesota requires eye protection only. I was in Minnesota with my full-faced helmet on, with the shield up, and I got pulled over and written a warning for no eye protection. I was like, are you for real? Quote

Now, that sounds really odd. I was in Minnesota with my full-faced helmet on, with the shield up, and I got pulled over and written a warning for no eye protection. I was like, are you for real? Man, that was too much. I know the guy was doing his job but, come on. Quote
MetroiD Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 My uncle over in the USA lives in Wisconsin where they don't have to wear any protection whatsoever... he rides his Gold Wing dressed in shorts and trainers, but that's what he enjoys the most, so who am I to tell him he needs a helmet and full-body protection. Over here in Bulgaria helmets are mandatory, but 70% of the shops sell utter crap and 70% of the riders wear that crap. The things that are _not_ crap are overpriced - for example, I personally have set my sights on a Shark RSI or RSX and its price in Bulgaria directly from Shark's local distributor is almost 20% higher than the regular one. On a totally unrelated note, I might be getting a car before I buy a bike... Still debating in my mind whether that's not some kind of betrayal, but at the end the car is much more practical Quote

I know a few people who don't wear any protection at all, but I can only tell them once how I feel about gear. After that there's no point, because it will only make them frustrated with you. I always preach one time my views on the importance of gear, after that, they know how I feel and if they want to slide on the concrete in their bare skin, unfortunetaly it's their choice. No offense to your uncle, I say the same thing to everyone who does'nt wear gear, even my brother in Law. Congrats on the possible car, we may have to jump to the other thread, any idea wht kind? If you don't mind me asking how old are you? Are you just getting your car license?? Quote
banditloon Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 (edited) When I past my bike test back in '93, I wanted a Ducati Monster! I just loved the look of them, the trelis frame, the single headlight, the double exhausts and of course, being a Duc, the rattling, clanking clutch but always found them out of my price range. After being knokced off my first two bikes, Kawasaki AR125 and a Honda NSR125, I went for a Yamaha Diversion 600 as my first bike and it still remains the worst bike I have ever owned and I will never buy a Yamaha again, unless Rossi gives me his one. Then on to the mad bikes, a Kawasaki ZX6r, my first brand new bike back in '97. Mad thing and I miss it dearly as I sold it to become a sensible home owner and 'grew up'. Could call it a motorcycle dark age! In '99 I bought a Suzuki Bandit, which I still have now. It doesn't look anything like that now, as I have decided to turn it back to the original. Before the big one, for my 30th I decided to buy something useful for the roads around the South East of England. Bearing in mind the speed limit here is 70mph, with most of the roads actually being either 30 or 40mph, policed by speed cameras and pot holes! So whilst all my friends are riding around on Gixers and Ninjas (and one of my friends owns an Aprilia RSV Factory), I went for the sensible option Aprilia RS125! Mad thing, I even took it on track days at Brands Hatch! It was nice to undertake Gixers and Ninjas and other sports things on the little stink wheel on bends. Stuffed in the straights though!!! And finally, after 13 years of having a bike licence, and being in a relationship with an Italian at the time; Three Italians in one house... Just a bit expensive!!! And in my sig is the state it is in three years later. The previous owner had neglected it! She'll be back on the road for this summer! (BTW The Alfa blew up as well) Edited February 28, 2010 by banditloon Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted February 28, 2010 Author Posted February 28, 2010 The Ducati monster is a nice bike banditloon, congrats on getting her back in shape! Though there is nothing wrong with Yamaha's, haven't had any significant problems with mine so far. Yesterday I took my girlfriend for her first ride and she loved it, halleluja! Nobody up for the ride to Denmark yet? Quote
Zorbas Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 Great work banditloon, have some magnificient rides in the summer. One of my best friends bought a 900cc Monster back in '99 and when I first heard the noise I was like . I really thought that it was mulfunctioning/sub-functioning since the sound the motor was producing was very strange to me at that time. "Raw Power" is the phrase I have in mind every time I see one. Yesterday I took my girlfriend for her first ride and she loved it, halleluja! Girlfriends always love rides that's why we love them! Quote
prateek Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 Three Italians in one house... Just a bit expensive!!! This made me laugh! Good luck on your Ducati project, and I'm sorry to hear about your Alfa Quote

The number of times I have had bikers come up to me a ask "your bike shouldn't make that noise, get it to a garage" Open airbox, open clutch cover, Termi exhausts.. If it didn't make that noise then it is broken! hehe!! I must see the mechanic tomorrow to make sure he has now got the right piston rings. I'm a conformist! and biking Quote
Big Cam Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 I love the sound of the monster, so mean and throaty. Quote

I had some problems with the spark plug in my motorcycle during that time and since it was sub-functioning it was producing a similar noise. Il Mostro is a whole different story, for sure. Quote
Big Cam Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 So it's really nice out today and alot of snow is starting to melt and it's getting me excited to be able to ride soon. Is anyone else in a snow covered area and the snow is starting to melt? Quote

Zorbas Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 The weather here is just perfect for riding. 22 ºC ( 71.6 ºF ) during the day, 15 ºC (59 ºF) during night. These are my favorite weather conditions when it comes to riding, especially during the evening-night. Snow? What's that? Quote
