Svelte Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 So... Ben 10 counts as System then? Good point I did include it as you specifically mentioned it Let's just pretend I said non-Duplo themes. Actually, since Ben 10 seems to be a Bionicle/ Technic type theme, I do think it will be a little more easily compatible with regular system than Duplo or Quattro bricks. The main reason for not including Duplo here is that there is no way I'd ever remember all the variants of Little Robots and Dora and Bob the Builder and so on. It does remind me I've forgotten the Fabuland based Mickey Mouse theme... Quote
Spyder Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 (edited) So... Ben 10 counts as System then? Not really. From what I've seen, Ben 10 looks like some technic pieces combined with some galidor figures, not System. Because. Wow, totally forgot about those. That's embarrassing. Who cares about Duplo anyway. Just out of curiosity: If we do include mini-themes such as Jurassic Park 3, why don't we include ones like shell, McDonalds, or Telekom? Izzy Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 I voted Harry Potter! It'd like to say Indy because the new sets are amazing and massive but Harry has a special place in my heart and i can't betray that. Quote
Rijkvv Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 Just out of curiosity: If we do include mini-themes such as Jurassic Park 3, why don't we include ones like shell, McDonalds, or Telekom? I would say because these were promotionals, hard to get (mainly only in the shops they were promoting) while the most license themes were available in most toy shops. Just my 2 cents. Quote
Piranha Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 Rare License forum appearance time Indiana Jones Excellent source of new parts and has some awesome sets! Quote
gladiator Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 My favorite? definitely Indiana Jones. I love all the minifigures ! my second favorite : Harry potter, Unfortunately for me, their set were launched in my dark ages :( Quote
Eilif Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 I voted for INDY. Brilliant sets, highly usefull accessories and minifigs, and color schemes that don't leave you wondering "what do I do with these bricks now". Harry Potter was a close second, and Harry potter did more than perhaps any other theme to introduce buildings and structure-usefull pieces in natural colors. However, the minifigs and accessories, though brilliant, weren't quite as usefull to me as the Indy, hence my choice. It also helps that most of HP happened during my Dark ages. Quote
Jonas O. Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 My favourite license theme is Star Wars of course, but there is a own sub forum for this. So I did vote for Batman, but Indiana Jones is also good too. Because there are a lot of interesting pieces and figures from the movies. For example the Penguin, Poison Ivy or Bane. But it's a little unfortunate, that TLG stop the production of this wounderful Batman sets. Quote
Nightshroud99 Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 I chose Prince of Persia (even though its not released yet) because fantasy assassins in medieval times are my hting But it doesn't hurt to add that the new figures are great! Indy would be a close second. Quote
Luke McAwesome Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 I voted JPIII, it may be the worst of the 3 films in my eyes, but I'm still happy made sets, even if there were only two. So, Jurassic Park III it is! Here's to hoping or a Jurassic Park 4! Quote
prateek Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 I'd say Indiana Jones, but the poll doesn't have Lamborghini. Quote
Peppermint_M Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Speed Racer. The cars are perfect representations of their movie counterparts. The figures were all fantastic. Although some set designs weren't that good, the most important thing, the cars, were fantastic. Quote
YG-49 Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Shouldn't Jurassic Park be counted as Studios? On that note, why isn't Studios on the poll? Quote
Blondie-Wan Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 (edited) Shouldn't Jurassic Park be counted as Studios? On that note, why isn't Studios on the poll? Jurassic Park (Jurassic Park III, to be specific) is a subtheme of Studios, but more importantly it's its own distinct license. Spider-Man originally started as a licensed subtheme of Studios as well, but it's a different licensed property from Jurassic Park. "Studios" overall isn't a licensed theme, even though it includes (or overlaps with) some licensed themes, so it doesn't belong on the poll. ___________________________________________ As for me, Indiana Jones is my favorite licensed theme, except possibly for Star Wars. I grew up on Indiana Jones and love the franchise, and the sets are terrific - pretty much a dream come true for me. Edited February 10, 2010 by Blondie-Wan Quote
Golbolco Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 I like ben 10, it a good parts pack. Quote
SuperChris Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 It's got to be Harry Potter. So many great minifigs, loads of great, detailed sets. Exactly what I'm looking for in a Lego theme. Quote
just2good Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 (edited) Toy Story. Grew up with the movie as a kid, and love the wide variety of sets. I have all of them that are out, and I will get all TS sets ever made. Edited February 13, 2010 by just2good Quote
j30spiff Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Toy Story. Grew up with the movie as a kid, and love the wide variety of sets. I have all of them that are out, and I will get all TS sets ever made. Wow, you just made me feel old. For me, it's Batman. I was really into comic books as a child/teen and even though I wasn't into too many DC comics, I did like Batman, liked the movies despite the things that made them both good and bad, and I liked the cartoons. I wish I was collecting LEGO with my kids when LEGO Batman was still in stores. Quote
Jedd the Jedi Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 (edited) Outside of Star Wars, definitely Batman, with Indiana Jones in third place. I had been collecting and building predominantly Star Wars and Adventurers LEGO sets and was a Batman fan at the same time, so I went absolutely rabid with excitement when I saw LEGO's Batman sets, and am appreciative that I was able to get my hands on those that I wanted - since now in 2011, they have become highly sought-after collectors' items. I've always had a policy for collecting Star Wars action figures and LEGO - "character figures from Hasbro, vehicles from LEGO". I'm not a big fan of spending a lot of money on a large chunk of plastic starfighter scaled to a 3 3/4 inch or larger action figure. With the Batman license, the same policy applied - and building Batwings, Batboats and Batmobiles from LEGO was something I really enjoyed. Indiana Jones is in second place as I have been a long-time fan of the films, though I think it was a mistake that the first Indy movie my Dad showed me when I was 9 was "Temple of Doom". I had always enjoyed the exoticism and adventurer-archaeologist aspect of Indiana Jones, and as such latched onto the Adventurers LEGO sets (which I was led into after becoming interested in dinosaurs first). Building traps and mechanisms and trying to build exotic architecture and old-fashioned vehicles out of the pieces I had on hand was a big part of growing up with LEGO for me. So when LEGO finally made official Indy sets, I felt much the same way as I did with the Batman sets two years earlier. I recall getting three sets at once for my birthday that year, and I was so excited (they were Motorcycle Chase, Race for the Stolen Treasure, and the Lost Tomb). However, it was then that I began to feel that LEGO was starting to sell out on fans - giving "Race for the Stolen Treasure" a larger box and higher price point that "The Lost Tomb" (which I believe had more pieces) was my first clue, and I was sorely disappointed with the Flying Wing set that was released the next year and did not buy it (Shanghai Chase won out for me). 1eyedjoker Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 Batman! I purchased Jurassic Park sets when they first came out, and while I really like dinosaurs, I think the Batman sets are superior. The minifigs are all great, henchmen exclude, and the one hero one villain per set ensured high playability. Not to mention those short comics on the boxes were a lot of fun. Quote
Geertos13 Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 (edited) Has to be Harry Potter ! But this might be based on the fact that I'm a massive Harry Potter fan, not on the quality of the actual sets. I do think that they were really good though. Edited February 16, 2011 by Geertos13 Quote

Sirius Black Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 HARRY POTTER ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!!!!! I think that we could already have guessed that based on your username . And i think that you should have a good indication of mine based on my username . Although Batman and PoP are close seconds, you simply can't beat Diagon Alley or Hogwarts Castle. Sirius Quote
