Big Cam Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 I'm located in the USA and I just heard on the radio that Toys R Us is celebrating their goofy mascot's birthday with a Buy 2 get 1 free sale on Saturday 09/26/09, and it specifically said LEGO.
General Magma Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 Wish I could be there... But for example, you buy two large sets with its price being around $149,99 [together that would be $299,99] you only have to pay one? If so, I wish I could get to there... oh well some good deals for the people who do live there. ~General Magma

So if you pay for 2 sets at $149.99 totalling $299.99, then you pay $299.99, but get a $149.99 set for free, or any set cheaper than $149.99 So basically you get 3 but pay for 2.
Jedi Master Fangorn Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 My local ad said it excludes Star Wars and Bulk items, but all the others are fair game. Picked up Shipwreck Hideout, Drawbridge Defense, and got the Coast Guard Helicopter for free yesterday. Great chance to pick up Pirates before they leave us!

Stupid corporations. I had no idea it was already going on, my radio commercial made it sound like it was one day only. Edited September 21, 2009 by Big Cam
dhaas06 Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 The commercial probably stated that the sale is this week through Saturday, 9/26. And even though Star Wars is excluded in-store, anything goes on their website (last time I checked, anyway). That also includes the exclusives that they have online, like Town Plan.

Ahh, good workaround. Thanks!
Oky Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 Damn. It does exclude SW, even online. Oh well. Still a nice deal, even with TRU's inflated prices. I'll have to see if there are enough non-SW sets of the same price range which I want... Thanks for informing us, but you should've posted it here.

Alice Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 I took advantage of this sale. It's a good time to get large sets if you have the money and it is a pretty good deal. I've never really noticed Toys R Us having jacked up prices, but I don't shop there often.
Tyrant Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 If you have a rewards card with TRU, it is also double points this week.
Buckshot Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 Managed to make it to TRU and got a Venice Canal Chase as my freebie. Should have picked up the 3 remaining Peril in Peru sets. Sadly, there were no Temple of Doom sets available--either they were already sold out or TRU took them off the shelves for this sale.
