new decorations on lego Castle accessories!

The other day, I stopped by my local lego store to pick up some soldiers impulses. I found this:

It's product name is "King's Shield". I haven't seen any factions with that color scheme, nor have I seen this accessory before. It leads me to believe that we might have a another human faction next year. What are your thoughts?

(My apologies if this has already been posted, searching "LEGO Kings Shield" comes up with just about every thread on the forum)

It's a possibility, but I wouldn't get look too far into the play accessories. Many are different from the things actually released, such as the bow or the crown.

Interesting find. It has a sort of Anglo-Saxon/Norman look to it

I could imagine this as a step way from Fantasy castle. It sounds unlikely, but I hope it's a Anglo Saxon VS Norman theme

I have a feeling this is nothing but Lego's attempt to sell more stuff. With how few Castle sets were released this year and the fact that we have not seen anything about new ones next year, I have a feeling the Castle theme with be discontinued along with the Pirate theme in 2010.

Even if the fraction is discounted it is still one of their 3 main themes so there will just be a new fraction. (I hope that it's still got the orcs)

But this shield falls to the endless category of "things that LEGO fans take as a sign of a new theme". I wouldn't mind a new human faction for Castle, but the color choice of that shield is a bit odd - black and red, but with a lion and a crown? "Evil" colors with "good" symbols?

So I really wouldn't count anything on this shield.
