Legoliner Pilot Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 Hey! Recently I have decided that I need something to expand my layout with. I see the Town Plan. I am just wondering is this set worth the $149.99 it costs? Quote
Rick Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 Yes (It's even worth €150 'cause that's what it costs over here and what I've paid, or was it €140, back then?). But I'd advise you to read a review (there's undoubtedly one here on EB) and look at some detail pictures of the set. Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 Yes this set is definitely worth it. Not only is the design great, everything is made up out of normal 1x1 and 1x2 bricks instead of large panels and stuff. I bought it in Germany for 120 euro, and i have no regrets of it. Quote
Matn Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 (edited) Oh, yes. It totally is! I bought mine for 120 euro a month or so ago and I really enjoyed the build. It looks really outstanding in comparison to normal LEGO City sets. The design, the architecture, the stickers, the pieces, it goes very well all together. Definitely a must buy. Rick Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 I bought mine for 20 euro a month or so ago and I really enjoyed the build. Sure you're not missing a '1' here? Quote
Artahn Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 This is completely opinion based. Ask yourself these questions: 1.) How much would you be willing to spend if the gas station was sold as a set by itself? 2.) How much would you be willing to spend for the town hall? ... Basically, you add up the total. If it is over 150 dollars, it is worth YOUR money. Quote

The only thing I'm not fond of is the interior of the Town Hall. The exterior is great though. Quote
prateek Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 Yes it is definately worth it! This set is a future classic. Quote
brickzone Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 It was worth the €130 I paid for it back when it came out. It is not worth the €180 that Lego are now charging Irish customers for it since their change to a "fleece Irish customers" pricing scheme for exclusives. Quote
Legoliner Pilot Posted September 12, 2009 Author Posted September 12, 2009 Now, after a few more discoveries about this set, I now have bought it and the Police Headquarters. Thank you Eurobricks members! Quote
Matn Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 Sure you're not missing a '1' here? Ha, I did. Would be an awesome deal. I adjusted it. Quote
Rapseflaps Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 Where does one get Town Plan for 120 Euros? Quote
Vaders_son Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 Well it definitely is worth it's price. So glad I got it for 105€ some time ago, there are not many better town sets I know of Quote
Derek Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 Green Grocer is the same MSRP, and is on sale on S@Hwith free shipping over $75, so I recommend getting that set if you want a good build, design and display set. Town Plan seems nice, but Green Grocer is bigger and more of a value IMO. Good luck making the right choice! -darthperson Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 I waited a long time to buy the Town Plan as well as the modulars, but now that I have them, I think they're terrific sets. The Town Plan is very nice with the three unique buildings, two vehicles, and fountain. I also like the little tree next to the garage, which I use with the Farm. The garage/gas station is my least favorite of the three buildings, although I like the roll-down garage door. Lego's last gas station is far better in my opinion, but the design was meant to match the old Town Plan when Kirk was a kid. In terms of value, I paid full price here in the US from LSAH, but I think the set is well worth it. I'm debating if I should add the stickers to the cinema. Overall, it is a fantastic set, and I have mine next to the Cafe Corner. Definately worth buying! - glad to hear that you picked it up (but not a fan of the Police Station). Perhaps we'll see a revised Police Station as a new modular set. Quote

I bought the police station because I have a police car and helicopter, but no police building. Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 (edited) I'm glad to hear that you bought it, Legoliner Pilot! Of course the price is worth it! Do only look how much money you have to pay for other exclusive licensed sets! I really that 10184 Town Plan set so much since it's the first real City set for AFOLs which includes such awesome, realistic and lovely details without loosing any playability or the classic character of City buildings (open walls, interior, small). It's really a must-have for every real City fan and a real upgrading of all our Lego Cities! Klaus-Dieter Edited September 14, 2009 by Klaus-Dieter Quote
