fenris Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 I´m mainly collecting star wars minifigs and discovered photography as a new hobby. As i happen to have some vikings too i thougth it yould be nice taking some shots of them too. So here they are: I hope this is not considered off-topic and maybe some viking-fans enjoy... Quote
prateek Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 That looks great! The flame size is perfect for figs Quote
Darth Legolas Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 Were you really that comfortable with a plastic minifig...wearing a cloth cape that close to fire? Or maybe it's photoshopped. I don't have an eye for that kind of thing. Great job on these! Quote
Capt. Redblade Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 Very neat use of match sticks as logs. Perfect proportioning for little men in capes who stand not even two inches tall. But Darth Legolas has a point... I would never let my minifigs get that near an open flame... Quote
posades Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 Were you really that comfortable with a plastic minifig...wearing a cloth cape that close to fire? Great job on these! I'm with you Darth Legolas on this, you have more guts than me since I would be afraid of melting and catching on fire. Great job on the photography, love the "snow" on the helmet and the little details like the sword being stuck in the ground. Quote
Sir Gecko Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 Were you really that comfortable with a plastic minifig...wearing a cloth cape that close to fire? I thought the same thing. Nice job on this, great photos. Is that really snow? looks like sand. Quote
Athos Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 Very cool. As to any risk of damaging a figure: if you have a viking chess set, you've got viking figures to burn... literally... Steve Quote
gormadoc Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 You've captured the image realy well, It's simple but fantastic. Quote
BlueBard Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 Simply great! You prepared the "photo-set" really well and the result are those magnetic pics Quote
Tom Bricks Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 I never noticed until now how cold that Viking face on the right looks. Good idea and well executed. Quote
saberwing Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 great job! I love the face of the vikings. Did you have to take the photos quickly? (because of the matches that burn out.) Quote
medieval_total_lego Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 great job, the final effect is very very nice Quote
Admiral Croissant Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 This is the only way to get such a realistic and good-looking light effect, so it might be off topic, but there is no other choice Good work, it looks very nice Quote
pedro Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 Some excellent photography yet again Fenris! The first shot is definately my favourite, the lighting you've created from the little fire is superb - the fire itself really suits the scene too. Keep up the good work Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 I'm jealous at your photographing skills. The pictures are awesome. It is also the first time I see real fire combined with LEGO. The flame adds a lot. Nice job! Quote
fenris Posted September 21, 2009 Author Posted September 21, 2009 First of all: thanks a lot for the positive feedback! Sorry for my late response, but i was on vacation for a week. @snow: the snow is powdered and crystal sugar @fire: the fire was only burning for 5 seconds maximum and i had to be really quick in takin the pics. i put some candle-wax on the matches to let the fire burn a little longer. THE MINIFIGS WERE NEVER IN DANGER - NO MINIFIGS HAVE BEEN HURT OR DAMAGED DURING THIS PHOTO-SESSION Quote
Big Cam Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 Awesome pics! As a fellow photographer, I'm curious what kind of camera you used and your shutter speed? Quote
fenris Posted September 21, 2009 Author Posted September 21, 2009 shutter what???? For the moment I only have a pocket cam, a canon ixus is 80 I think... just put on the macro mode and the rest ist on auto... Quote
