Ricecracker Posted September 7, 2009 Posted September 7, 2009 Hi again everyone. Today I present to you my latest MOC, a Kenworth T170 Bin Truck. This type of truck is very plentiful around my city, used mainly for small construction/renovation projects, as well as used to haul around mobile cardboard compactors used by many grocery stores. This build first started out as a landscape type truck, with a dumping bed and low, fold-down sides. I then realized that I don't think I've ever seen a Lego roll-on roll-off truck, and I think they're more interesting. I chose a Kenworth as the chassis-cab because I really love the look of the sloped hood and grille. The front end of the cab is based on Ralph_S's US Semi Truck. Now, for some pictures! The fourth (Second from the front) wheel is weight adjustable! It can haul many things, from.... A compactor... To a bin of construction waste... A bin with a mini excavator in it..... And even a bin filled with thousands of black cheese! Thanks for stopping by, constructive criticism is always welcome, and, as usual, more pictures are available on the flickr set. Quote
BlueBard Posted September 7, 2009 Posted September 7, 2009 Wonderful designs! I specially like the one with the construction bin Quote

Commander Flash Posted September 7, 2009 Posted September 7, 2009 I like it. The white color was a good choice, and the features surpassed what Lego would put into a set of this size. I love how the back raises. Quote
Darth Legolas Posted September 7, 2009 Posted September 7, 2009 I like it. The white color was a good choice, and the features surpassed what Lego would put into a set of this size. I love how the back raises. Like it? I love it! I truly love how accurate this is, and the perfect lifting back, but my absolute favorite part of this truck is the red and orange bin! It looks so real! Great job! Quote

I love how the back raises. Thank you. I try to get working features into all my MOC, because it just doesn't feel like Lego if I don't. Like it? I love it! I truly love how accurate this is, and the perfect lifting back, but my absolute favorite part of this truck is the red and orange bin! It looks so real! Great job! Thanks! I'd have to say that the bin doesn't actually look much like the ones around here, but if it looks realistic to you, then yay! Quote
MetroiD Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 You should put this in a special truck showroom in your town... Minifig truckers would look at it and say, "Woah, look at that beast, let's hope the municipality buys some and lets us drive it around..." Btw, I love how you've combined Technic + System in order to ensure that all the great features of this one work! I think trying to make the front end a bit "curvier" would make it look even cooler... Quote

Thanks, but I don't have room for a town, just a collection of my trucks . When I build a town, I'll do that . Btw, I love how you've combined Technic + System in order to ensure that all the great features of this one work! Thanks, I try to look through all the possibilities so that it looks and works well. Milan Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 Wow, I did not see this beauty! Awesome build. That bin is great with slopes and 2 colors. I like the adjustable axle! You should connect trailer with that excavator to the truck to haul it! Quote
prateek Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 Great job buddy! I like those "attachments" on the back of the truck, and the hood is pretty cool too Quote

You should connect trailer with that excavator to the truck to haul it! Thanks! I'm not quite sure what you mean by the last part. Care to explain it? Great job buddy! I like those "attachments" on the back of the truck, and the hood is pretty cool too Thanks. You've seen trucks with the fourth axle like this around, right? Quote
Milan Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 Thanks! I'm not quite sure what you mean by the last part. Care to explain it? Sorry, fast typing! I meant, you should construct the trailer, which will carry the excavator. And the truck can haul the trailer! I think it would look great! Quote
prateek Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 Thanks. You've seen trucks with the fourth axle like this around, right? If you mean the ones with the 2nd axle from the front raised up, then yes, I have. I like how you did that too. Quote
paul_delahaye Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 (edited) I then realized that I don't think I've ever seen a Lego roll-on roll-off truck, apart from the awesome ro-ro recycle lorry of 1992, which had a brilliant mechanism, obviously built to the old school scale http://guide.lugnet.com/set/6668 and not to forget the one in the train set 4564 freight rail runner http://guide.lugnet.com/set/?q=4564_1&v=z But yours is cool too Paul Edited September 20, 2009 by paul_delahaye Quote
