Minifig Lecturer Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 Hi all, I made this bank recently, it is the main part of the Central Bank. I will be adding to curved wings on either side that will have columns, well thats the plan :) Quote
prateek Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 It looks great but it isn't like any bank I've ever seen. Quote
Commodore Hornbricker Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 Nice Building. I like the design and the surrounding scene. I do have to ask what the story is behind the apperance of Governor Broadside. While I always enjoy seeing him in a MOC I must admit he looks a little out of place so I figured there must be a back story? Quote
Minifig Lecturer Posted September 2, 2009 Author Posted September 2, 2009 (edited) It looks great but it isn't like any bank I've ever seen. Yes, I guess it is not like most banks, however I based it on a local bank near me; You will notice, no windows, just a small door LOL Nice Building. I like the design and the surrounding scene. I do have to ask what the story is behind the apperance of Governor Broadside. While I always enjoy seeing him in a MOC I must admit he looks a little out of place so I figured there must be a back story? Thanks, yes there is a back story. In brief he, GB, is me, the Emperor of my Lego nation. The background story is here if interested! Edited September 2, 2009 by Calvin Quote
Big Cam Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 You've been busy! I appreciate this one as well Quote

Klaus-Dieter Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 That's a very nice MOC, Calvin! I really like it! The architecture of the building looks really great! I read that in the bank near you there are actually no windows. Nevertheless: Without windows it looks more like a bunker than a bank. I really like the brick-built trees in front of the building and the black roof on top of the building. Very well done! Klaus-Dieter Quote
samthelegoman1 Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 I like the architecture, but can we have some inside shots? Quote
brickzone Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 I was thinking the blanked out windows were a bit like the old Parliament building on College Green (now Bank of Ireland). Looks quite nice although simplified from the inspiration. One change I would make would be 1x4 tiles on the bottom of the "window" insets. Quote
Ratshot Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 You did a pretty good job on this bank but I must agree with Klause-Dieter, without windows it looks more like a bunker Second, adding a clock to the top of the doorway/arch thing would increase the realisim. Quote
Basiliscus Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 Looks great! I really like the dome at the top and the overall shape. Very nice. I also love the mosaic at the entrance. The trees lining the road are a nice touch. However, I think the studs below the windowless arches need covered up with tiles and the entrance stairs could be a bit more refined, but overall, good effort! Quote
Minifig Lecturer Posted September 6, 2009 Author Posted September 6, 2009 Thanks for the comments all and the suggestions. I will be fixing up the building with some of the suggestions. But I must say, there is not supposed to be windows, it is a Central Bank that among other things stores the nation's gold reserves, it is not a bank open to customers popping in off the street... brickzone Posted September 6, 2009 Posted September 6, 2009 For anyone with Google Earth - you can now see the bank in 3D as Google have added 3D buildings to Dublin. Quote
The Green Brick Giant Posted September 7, 2009 Posted September 7, 2009 Very Very nice. I like the scale, it's not massive and it fits with the older style of cars. Great work! As a gardener... need more greenery. Quote
