sologuy369 Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 (edited) Attention Lego Fans Sometime this week, I was reading a paper when I found a article in the Southtownstar. As some of you know, there is a new Lego store opening in Orland Square Mall. The article also had some events listed. I will post the picture of the article soon. In the mean time, you may read it online here. Edited September 2, 2009 by Stash2Sixx Quote
Stash2Sixx Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 Since Sologuy already started a topic for the grand opening, I figured I would just add to it. With grand openings, LEGO usually has a Master Builder at the location constructing a giant model. For Orland Park, there will be an 8ft Yoda build. My friend asked me if I could post this information for him because they are still in need of volunteers to help. The times and dates are as follows: Friday, September 11th: 11am to 7pm Saturday, September 12th: 10am-6pm Sunday, September 13th: 11am-6pm -All volunteers should be over 18 years of age (in some cases, exceptions will be made). -All volunteers are to wear khaki pants and a black shirt with a collar. -Please arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your scheduled shift. -volunteer roles are as follows: runners, brick breakdown, assistant to the Master Builder, assist children with building bricks for the 8ft model. All volunteers who work an 8 hour shift are entitled to a nice discount on in-store merchandise for that day! If you would like to volunteer and be part of this incredible event, please contact Adam Stasiek, the Event Coordinator, at 847-517-1640, as he is scheduling all of the volunteers. Stash2Sixx Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 I am surprised that with all the Chicagoland area people on this website, that no one has really shown interest in this. I'll be there helping out, but I guess that just scared everyone away! Sorry. Anyway, hope to see some of you there. Quote
Alice Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 I'd volunteer if I could, but I live so far away. People should definitely volunteer as they'll get some cool stuff and a discount for the day. Quote
Modulex Guy Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 I'll be volunteering Sat. and Sun. I hope to see some of you there! Quote
the enigma that is badger Posted September 6, 2009 Posted September 6, 2009 I'll be there Sat and Sunday as well! Man, LEGO truly loves the Chicagoland area. For those counting at home, this makes FIVE storefronts!: - Michigan Ave - Woodfield Mall - Discovery Center - Northbrook Mall - Orland Park All within an area of less than 60 miles! Quote
Alice Posted September 6, 2009 Posted September 6, 2009 I think it's more like Chicagoland really loves LEGO. The very first Alabama LEGO store just opened so I'm hoping it is successful and we get to at least keep this one. I've been there 4 times in the last month and it truly is a wonderous place. They ask, "Who is the gift for?" and I get to look at them delighted and tell them it's for me. Congratulations on another store. I didn't realize that there were 5 in the area. WOW! Quote
Stash2Sixx Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 So then that's ppretty cool. Badger, Polish Guy, and myself will all be there volunteering this weekend. Anyone else? Always good to meet other members from EB. Let us know if and when you will be there! Quote

We've got some things that need to get done around the house and are trying to save money for X-mas LEGO purchases. Thanks for the offer though. We'll be thinking of you as we slave away in the yard. Miss ya buddy! -Dave Quote
