Imperial Governer Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 SNEAK PREVIEW: I am a history freak, and I always wanted to create sets that combine history with the regular LEGO brick. Everyone KNOWS that it would be a total WHO-RA if LEGO started making WWII sets. Sadly, I think LEGO belives that bringing such a topic as The Second World War II wouldn't be suitable for children under 7. There would have to be guns, tanks, and soldiers. It would also stir controversy with Nazis and German LEGO factories. I have been working for the last month on a subtheme of a "LEGO World War II", based off of Operation Valkyrie, which took effect on July 20, 1944. This was the attempt assassination of the dictactor of Germany, by Col. Calus Von Stauffenberg. I am here to announce that I have 2 LEGO Operation Valkyrie MOCs ready, and a few more on the way. So far, I made a German Rolls Royce, which is portrayed in the scene where Stauffenberg and von Tresckow are reaching the Wolf's Lair, and I also built a Wolf's Lair itself. In these MOCs, there are NOW 5 basic mini-figures: von Stauffenberg, von Tresckow, Chief of Staffs of the Axis Power (made-up), von Stauffenberg's personal chef (made-up), and a regular German guard. More characters should appear by December, when I officialy present my MOCs on the "Other Themes" part of Eurobricks. Tune in December when I show my MOCs in the World War II LEGO MOC series! P.S. I have also built two United State Marine Corps commanders and a base for them. They will priemere also in December with my MOC LEGO Valkyrie line!
The Who Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 This sounds very interesting, so I have two questions: 1--What are you doing with the MOCs when you are done with them? Just keep them on display...? 2--If you are making a Hitler minifig, are you using decals?
Imperial Governer Posted August 17, 2009 Author Posted August 17, 2009 This sounds very interesting, so I have two questions:1--What are you doing with the MOCs when you are done with them? Just keep them on display...? 2--If you are making a Hitler minifig, are you using decals? 1- Yes, booger540, I am keeping the already built MOC on display in my living room. When I work on other MOCs, I'll find a place to put the existing MOCs. (I really don't know where, though. ) 2- I don't think I will make a Hitler minifig. I'm trying to match up to what LEGO would probably make my subtheme look like. On the side I may, but I really don't feel right making a Hitler minifig, but I may in the future.
The Who Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 On the side I may, but I really don't feel right making a Hitler minifig...May I ask why?
Imperial Governer Posted August 17, 2009 Author Posted August 17, 2009 (edited) May I ask why? I actually had plans to turn my spare mini-fig parts into a USMC army for the Valkyrie theme. Also, I just don't want to build him as a mini-figure. EDIT: As I said, I want to make my series in a way like LEGO would make it. I know LEGO wouldn't release a Hilter mini-figure! Emperor Claudius Rome Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 (edited) Umm. Your into the WWII thing, a little too much. I mean, first you make the topic about how "cool" a WWII theme would be. But The Second World War was not "Cool", it was horrible! After the First World War, it was givin the name "The War to end all Wars" as many thought nobody was heartless enough to repeat those events. Then Hitler invades Poland , and the worst event in human history begins. Read this, and ask yourself, how "Who-ra" is WWII Edited August 17, 2009 by Emperor Claudius Rome

What I meant to say it would be interesting to see how LEGO would interpert the 2nd World War in sets. Thank you, and I'm sorry if I offened anyone!

While, WWII (or any war) was just horrible, I am still fascinated with that time period and history. I would love to see an official WWII theme, but that's not going to happen. Can't wait to see your creations!
Peppermint_M Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Are you planning on using flesh tone or yellow for the figures? I do know of a minifig head that would work well for the fuhrer, my sister and myself used to make historical figures out of Lego as we are history geek, any way.. The A-Wing technician from the 2000 released A-Wing set has the (worryingly) perfect head.
WhiteFang Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Imperial Governor, first of all, a theme sneak preview on your MOC, will be better if you could actually provide a sneak preview of your MOC that you have been doing instead of asking us to wait until December when this topic doesn't have any preview image to share. It could be your military base or your minifigs' arrays instead of just using official LEGO image and Valkyrie movie poster that doesn't have any direct co-relation in this topic agenda, which make me think you are going to have a discussion of both items into a fusion direction... Next, military MOCs are welcomed to be created in Other Themes, but threading against too much of historic past world wars, political agenda, figures and opnions, are not supposed to be in Eurobricks. This is a place where we build and share but not a place for us to discuss past world wars. Many people have different perceptions about this, and as a history student like myself, I know the facts very well, but you must understand very clearly that this is a LEGO Community but not a place to discuss and criticise about what happened in the past... I don't want to see this topic to turn into a political military history discussion.. and until you have something constructive to show and share. I am locking this topic up before it turns too sensitive. Drop me a PM, on your direction of this intended topic, and your objective, I might consider to unlock it. Thanks. WhiteFang
