danim Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 This helicopter was built after I realised that the origional set was too small to use as a transport helicopter so I lengthened it and included a small computer in the rear and it is now used as Special Forces carrier as you can see from this shot it does have lights and sound and behind the special forces you can see their weapons Please tell me what you think Quote
5150 Lego Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Danim, nice moc. I would suggest you focus better on your closeup shots. Its very difficult to make out whats in the back of your copter. As for the copter itself, i would shorten it just a tad. The length makes it look out of proportion. Keep mocing! Quote
danim Posted August 12, 2009 Author Posted August 12, 2009 the reason it is so long is to fit all the Special Forces into it Quote
Ralph_S Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 (edited) I am going to tell you what I think, but you're probably not going to like it much. I'm very fussy when it comes to helicopters. I quite like the original set. It really is a bit small -but that applies to pretty much any helicopter or aircraft LEGO used to do at the time- but it is nicely proportioned. I understand you want more space, but making it longer without making it any wider or increasing the rotor diameter makes the whole thing look more like a flying sausage than like a helicopter. While some special forces might use helicopters in civilian colour schemes, because in some cases that is less conspicuous than a military one, yellow, white and red doesn't really look all that convincing to me. I don't know how large your collection is, but if you want a larger helicopter for your special forces, perhaps building one from scratch is a better idea than modifying this set. LEGO themselves sell the coast guard helicopter and, provided that you have the parts to substitute grey ones for the large orange bits on the fuselage, it makes an excellent starting point for a military transport helicopter IMO. Perhaps worth considering. Cheers, Ralph Edited August 13, 2009 by Ralph_S Quote
danim Posted August 13, 2009 Author Posted August 13, 2009 I do now see what both of you meen so I am going to start again and design it more like a chinook or the sea knight Quote
