Zzz Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 That actually looks like a really interesting set. I hope it is real. Sure. It is the station that can change into a sub. Or a fold out shuttle sub, that can be changed to a station. However you like. ;) Quote
The Crazy One Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 Sure. It is the station that can change into a sub. Or a fold out shuttle sub, that can be changed to a station. However you like. ;) You serious? Haha, that is a great set then. Quote
---Vertea--- Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 perhpas the manta warrior has flippers because it is the one from the professors book that took a great curiosity in the team. Quote
Mission Commander Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 Found on the net: Why does the manta have flippers? It's the base, Transformed! Quote
EspEth12 Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 It's the base, Transformed! That picture has made me want that set more! Quote
Aanchir Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 That picture has made me want that set more! I was about to ask why they couldn't make the top seal off, but then I noticed that there's a roof slightly to the right of the main vehicle in the back. LEGO certainly didn't cut corners with this set! Quote
---Vertea--- Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 the base of the ...erm.. base (lol) has grey crystal ball pieces... neat. that muist be part of the detachability overall, I am really pleased with the base. If only it came with a Cthulhu fig instead of another manta warrior Quote
Bfahome Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 Eh, it's cool, but from what I can see it isn't my favorite set. I wanna know what the interior is like. :| Quote
Svelte Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 What is this, Count Dooku's Solar Sailer after he's fallen on hard times? Quote
EspEth12 Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 What is this, Count Dooku's Solar Sailer after he's fallen on hard times? It does look similar to the solar sailer. Quote
metalandi Posted February 7, 2010 Posted February 7, 2010 The portal of atlantis set looks quite awesome, and also the "mutant base" looks interesting. Can't wait to see some more pictures of these. Quote
Delta 38 Posted February 7, 2010 Posted February 7, 2010 Sure. It is the station that can change into a sub. Or a fold out shuttle sub, that can be changed to a station. However you like. ;) Well... That's surprising. Still don't think I'll get it, but nice feature. Quote
EspEth12 Posted February 7, 2010 Posted February 7, 2010 (edited) why would you need handcuffs underwater? -In the second picture- Edited February 7, 2010 by EspEth12 Quote
ZO6 Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 TLC really went all out with the Portal set didn't they!? 6 staircase pieces - impressive The set is like a carnival for the eyes - there are so many details to take in. If I must nitpick, it's that I think there should be more aquatic life (plants, clams etc) at the base of the structure (I do appreciate the skellie diver though). Sure there are a number of dark green vine pieces attached to the walls, but at quick glance it doesn't seem to have as much of an underwater feel to it as some of the previous aquatic themed bases (hope that makes sense...). Overall I'm extremely impressed with these initial pictures. Hopefully my outlook only becomes even more positive as we see more of it in the future. Quote
Capt. Redblade Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 Re: The shark portal Did anyone else notice the old-style skeleton in the Aqua Raiders helmet? Is it an omen, or does it explain why they disappeared so suddenly? Quote
Delta 38 Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 (edited) Re: The shark portalDid anyone else notice the old-style skeleton in the Aqua Raiders helmet? Is it an omen, or does it explain why they disappeared so suddenly? Yes, lots of people noticed that a few pages back. Usually, they appear in preliminary images but get replaced with the "normal" droid-armed ones later. For some reason, this time, there's an actual, tangible minifig. That might mean it won't get replaced, but seeing what happened in other lines, i doubt it. The portal seems to have eight long blue pieces as the "portal". I think they might be transparent. I wish they included some sort of feature so when you put all the rings in, the pieces spiral out from the sides of the portal. Maybe I'll try to make modifications so it can do that. Oh, and is it just me, or is there no spot for the red key to be put in on the portal? At the bottom of the ring is some grey piece, which might be the holder. EDIT: yes, it is. I can't understand why it's not on the top of the portal, but instead at the bottom. Plus, it's not vertical! That ruins the appearance of the portal for me, so I'll fix that error when i get it. =) Edited February 8, 2010 by Delta 38 Quote
EspEth12 Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 hmm... I wonder why those two sets were not shown (6 wheeled vehicle and eel/snake) at the Canadian toy fair? Quote
Svelte Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 hmm... I wonder why those two sets were not shown (6 wheeled vehicle and eel/snake) at the Canadian toy fair? Probably an Exclusive set. Quote
The Green Brick Giant Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 Probably an Exclusive set. They don't bother showing exclusives because the point of Toy Fairs are to get stores to buy more LEGO. Sometimes they just can't ship all the sets to all the fairs. Quote
GiBBs Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 I'm a bit disappointed about the HQ. It seems very small (smaller than the Neptune carrier) I hoped for a base with the size of the old aquazone base. And I'm also bothered by the strange roof part with the lights. Why do you have to take it off to transform the base into the sub ? Quote

EspEth12 Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 (edited) I have no clue why people are complaining about the base/sub. I personally think it's a great set, actually one of the best Atlantis sets so far. Edit: besides the portal. Edited February 9, 2010 by EspEth12 Quote
