lluisgib Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 Hispabrick Magazine 005 is now available in English and in Spanish. This issue is dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the LEGO Star Wars line and features several articles about SW related issues (MOCs, a competition to win a chrome Darth Vader, etc.) There are also a number of recurrent sections on LDraw, getting started with MINDSTORMS and Building trees. We have also interviewed Jan Beyer and Mark Kelso and you will find an in depth review of the Emerald Night and the new PF Train system along with several other articles. You can download it free at http://www.hispabrickmagazine.com/ or read it on-line at http://issuu.com/hispabrickmagazine/docs/h...zine_005_ingles We would appreciate if you could take the time to leave a comment with your thoughts about this issue to help us improve. We are also looking for collaborators for the next issue so if you are interested in writing an article or have any other ideas, please do not hesitate to contact us at: info AT hispabrickmagazine DOT com Carlos Méndez Lluís Gibert Quote
posades Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 Love it, discovered this magazine a couple months ago and I have read every issue since then. I especially like the articles you have on building trees, I always have trouble with those and some of the techniques that are explained in the magazine are great (you should keep that feature a regular in the magazine). One minor problem I see is the translation to English; sometimes the sentence structure and syntax of the articles isn't perfect. Who is doing the translation for you guys? It's really not that big of a deal and it's still readable; maybe for your intents and purposes you don't need a perfect translation which is fine. Quote
lluisgib Posted July 30, 2009 Author Posted July 30, 2009 Thanks for your words. The translations are done by HispaLUG members. Due that we don't earn any money with this magazine, we can not pay a professional translation. But taking in count that the Magazine was born for the Spanish AFOLs, and finally we decided to do a translation to share our knowledge to all the AFOL community, we think that a "correct" but not a perfect" translation is enough for our purposes. Hope you can understand this fact. Lluis Quote

Hope you can understand this fact. Lluis That's what I thought, and it is perfectly acceptable. For no pay that is quite a good job they are doing! How long does it take for an issue to come out, is it a set date or whenever there are enough articles/content? Quote
Jetro Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 At the moment Hispabrick Magazine appear 3 times a year, roughly in April, August and December. As Lluis said, we aim at "understandable, not perfect", although we make every effort to make it as perfect as time and circumstances allow. If there are any serious mistakes we've overlooked, please let us know so we can keep them in mind for future issues. And if anyone wishes to write an article in English (understandable is good enough) we'll translate it for the Spanish issue, so do contact the editors if you have any ideas for an article.
