em121231 Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 hi What is the story behind the 8287? Is the motor/battery box from 8287 compatible in any way with the motors and battery box in the "new" Power Functions? Can i use the RC receiver with the 8287? Is it still in production? Is it better/worse than the Medium power functions motor? What about the XL one? I just came across one in a local webshop and i'm a little confused. The price is aprox 42 euros = 61$ thanks in advance Quote
Milan Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 Hi, For power info and comparation check this: http://www.philohome.com/motors/motorcomp.htm It is compatible with power functions via this: http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=8886-1 You can use receiver with this if you have that extension wire. Can be found cheaper than 42 euro on Bricklink Quote
CP5670 Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 This 5292 motor is very powerful, even more so than the PF XL according to Philo's tests. It runs at a high speed though and will need to be geared down for most purposes, so in practice its mechanical power is probably similar to the XL. It's an energy hog and is best run from a wall-powered source like the train speed regulator. I doubt it's still in production, but the PF XL is probably a better choice anyway given its lower cost and more convenient dimensions. Quote
