Dennimator Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 (edited) It´s been a while since I built a MOC (and posted it here). Yesterday I was playing around with some hinges, and thought "Hmm, these things can maybe be used to make a car roof?", so I tried it out, making a Ferrari car. Here´s the result: Front: Back: I love messing around trying to find new ways to connect a steering wheel. This is one of the results of that: For the Dark and Stormy Night story, I also made a "Ghost Car": Please tell me what you think, and constructive criticism are, as always, welcome. RepublicForces Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 The Ferrari looks not like a Ferrari to me ( NO OFFENSE) and the ghost car... WOW that looks really cool, *COUGHCOUGHspooky-diorama-thingCOUGHCOUGH* Quote

WOW that looks really cool, *COUGHCOUGHspooky-diorama-thingCOUGHCOUGH* Well, the Ferrari car is actually based on a very similiar-looking Ferrari I saw a while ago (except the front grille, which is based on the Enzo), which I have to admit didn´t really look like that classic Ferrari. So blame Ferrari, not me! Thanks. Yeah, I am planning something....very special.. for it. I wouldn´t have built it otherwise, because many of those pieces are exclusive to BrickLink, and all the pieces did cost me $45.. Edited July 27, 2009 by Dennimator Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 The ghost car is really cool and creative, i like it a lot! Kudos for trying an elaborate Ferrari design, but it doesn't look really smooth like a real one IMO. Maybe using some more standard parts like a wind shield and slopes could make it better... Quote

I know, and it has many other flaws. It´s only a prototype, and I will build other smoother Ferrari cars. However I will keep this one as it is, as the hinges give it a special look (even if it´s... not the best car I have built. ) Quote
Ralph_S Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 It's an ambitious idea, but I think you are setting yourself up for failure by using those hinges. They just look much to clunky to use as A-pillars. Using a standard LEGO windshield (such as this one) might be a better option. I'm also not sure whether it really is feasible in this scale to build a car that is as low as Ferrari's normally are and still have enough room for a figure inside, unless you build a convertible. I know it's generally considered bad form to show your own MOCs in a thread about somebody else's, but I wonder whether you've seen my five wide Ferrari (loosely based on a 348TB)? I haven't commented on your ghost car yet. It's an interesting -if expensive- idea. I wouldn't mind having the parts you used! Cheers, Ralph Quote

They look very wierd on the car. Well, I can squeeze a minifig inside, but..it doesn´t really look good. Oh yes, I have seen it, it actuallt was one of the first 5-wide cars I saw a pic of. It looks wonderful, and it really catches the Ferrari look, something which may look easy, but is very hard. Good work with that one! Quote

prateek Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 To be honest I like the ghost car better. But I do like the techniques used in the Ferrari e.g. the front grill and the steering wheel Quote

I have some more steering whel prototypes, I´ll try to include them in my next few car MOCs and post them here. Quote
Ralph_S Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 Thanks. I have some more steering whel prototypes, I´ll try to include them in my next few car MOCs and post them here. The way you mounted the steering wheel is clever. At first I couldn't figure out how you did it, but I now realise you used one of the 'guns' from the Agents sets. Cheers, Ralph Quote
