I dug out this website, Baseplate, while looking for a minifig maker, and it's great. It has an ideas page and a town display. Showcases a lot of Classic themes, like space, town and castle. Although, it doesn't look like it's been updated ina while.

AACK! BASEPLATE! Oh, man, I remember this site from when I was realllly little. It was my first exposure to pirates, motorcycles, and complex small-brick models (the camera, dinosaurs, etc...) Before writing this post I wentback to the site and snooped around...

You're right, it hasn't been updated in ages. I plan on visiting a lot more now that you've reminded me.

Yeah, Todd and Suzanne were a couple of AFOL "pioneers" back in the early days of the web. They founded Lugnet, and Todd used to run an online auction called Auczilla. This was way back before eBay and Bricklink existed. Ah, the good ol' days of sending in auction bids via email ...
