Kikuichimonji Posted December 17, 2005 Posted December 17, 2005 Although I only collect SW Lego, I bought all Viking sets, and I liked them :-D So my vote goes to the vikings ;) Quote
Lost Viking Posted December 17, 2005 Posted December 17, 2005 Hey Josh! Welcome to Eurobricks, I hope you enjoy your time here and stay with us for a long time! *viki* Quote
Evil Willy Posted December 17, 2005 Posted December 17, 2005 Yup welcome josh..Maybe you could post i nthe welcome forums and tell us what ur lego interests are etc... Quote
DarthBrick429 Posted December 17, 2005 Posted December 17, 2005 The Vikings stood out the most. I feel this way because everyone seemed to be preparing for it. If you visit brickshelf and serach for Vikings, you'll see tons of files that include sets that weren't even from the Viking theme that were designed similar. It felt like everyone wanted the Viking sets so lego thought "We better give them what they want," and released the Viking Sets for 2005. The funny thing was that they released them towards the end of the year, at least for the United States, and that made everyone begin the countdown for the Vikings. I saw on brickset that before they were even released that the Viking sets were at the top of the most wanted set list. That's why I feel that Vikings were the theme of the year. Everyone wanted a piece of them! *viki* Quote
Ickelpete Posted December 17, 2005 Posted December 17, 2005 I voted for City the construction series is great :-D Although my favorite set from this year is the technic mobile crane Quote
metallifreak44 Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 I would probably have to say Vikings were the best theme. It's an interesting theme, it's never been done before, there are some great sets, and Vikings in general are just awesome. Quote
kotua Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 Why doesn't the poll have Racers, Trains, or Creator for that matter. That left me to chose Vikings. City was okay, but there were no civilians, or some burning/getting robbed building....making the sets look odd. Harry potter only had the Graveyard Duel set going for it. All others felt too Junioratized. KKII was only a good theme because of the shadow knights. Otherwise the sets would have been worse than... Bionicle sets are beginning to look alike...only the big ones are decent now...The small ones ALWAYS have megablocking new pieces. Starwars Sets were okay. They were mostly Episode III. Not much to say. It was a decent theme on 2005. I didn't mind the flesh tones because I'm not racist against any minifigs. Dino 2010/Dino Attack had alot going AGAINST it. Vehicles were Jumbo sized, and the dinos were worse than the older counterparts...I did like the minifigs...specially the one that had its face semi covered, and the camouflaged/scarred face. Dino Attack didn't have any containment units, so it made the "Heros" look like Dino killers, while Dino 2010 looked like they wanted prehistoric pets. Vikings was the new theme, which was original. The creatures were made of Bionicle pieces(and didn't look dumb). They also had system pieces, making them an interesting blend, and a good set for those that are somewhat leaving the bionicle theme for system. and I liked the axe piece.. Racers had Ferrari and the Tiny Turbos...plus some other stuff... I liked the Ferrari truck...but once again, The Racers theme WASN'T on the poll! I'm sure some people wanted to vote for trains...I didn't, but it should have been there. and Creator had its X-Pods...and interesting sets...How could that also been skipped? oh well... Quote
gusmoore17 Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 As long as many of you have voted for vikings, I want to talk about Knights' Kingdom 2.2, which have their very own fans and success, the sets are as playable as the vikings' and they have a historic background that makes them as loyal as the vikings'. In fact, I wanna say that 2005 has been the most productive year, the best ultimate sets come from this year!!!!! Star Wars, Harry Potter, City, and the previously mentioned, all deserve a crown (just like in Narnia). Quote
TroyTMoore Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 Vikings! For the figs torsos mostly and the longboat hull. The ring fort is cool too and a good source for log pieces. I am a castle head, and I like to have lots of troops. The Viking torso prints for the most part are fantastic. KK was much improved, VDF was great. SW mmmmmmm some very nice sets, and I am not a huge SW fan. I had to get Sandcrawler and Imperial Inspection. City sets are WOW if you are into City. Quote
jonfett Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 I voted for Vikings, along with almost half the people in this poll. The main reason I chose this theme over others is that I thought this was the most original new theme we got in 2005. And I still remember the day I saw the prototype pics, which are still saved on my computer! *wub* Here's to 2006! :) Jon. Quote
thewrenagator Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 VIKINGS, even though i do not own any of the sets. To be honest the only new release i purchased this year was the HP Graveyard Duel...and it truly owns. Quote
4brickmoney Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 It has been a few years since i can honestly there has been more than one good theme to chose from Quote
Sir Kohran Posted December 24, 2005 Posted December 24, 2005 I voted Knights' Kingdom. The sets were more solid this war than last year, and I prefered Vladek's Dark Fortress to the Viking Fortress, if only by a little. And I actually prefered the Knights' Kingdom minifigs to the Viking minifigs, but yet again, only by a little. However, whilst the Vikings are a great line, Knights' Kingdom still wins. Quote
Sarg_Kulo Posted December 25, 2005 Posted December 25, 2005 How could it not be Star Wars??? I think I've bought a total of 2 non Sw sets... ever! Quote
DoubleT Posted December 25, 2005 Author Posted December 25, 2005 It could with ease not be Star Wars... It importent to keep an open mind.. There where many great other thems sets, like Vladeks Fortress etc.... Quote
The Middleman Posted December 25, 2005 Posted December 25, 2005 City. First real revival of the Town line in many years - maybe even an IMPROVEMENT to it. Quote

Zane Posted December 25, 2005 Posted December 25, 2005 After getting Vladek's Dark Fortress, I can safely say that KK2 was the best line this year. Bionicle this year was good, but didn't really stand out. Vikings were a great new line, and easily come second. But the Wagon and Fortress of KK2 has just won me over. *shadowknight* Quote
DoubleT Posted December 26, 2005 Author Posted December 26, 2005 Hi all Remember you can still vote, so those who havent voted yet... please vote *SS* TT Quote
blueandwhite Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 How could it not be Star Wars???I think I've bought a total of 2 non Sw sets... ever! Well, if your a LEGO fan there are a variety of choices. That being said, it sounds like you are simply a Star Wars fan. I assume the only reason you even purchase LEGO is because of the Star Wars licence. For LEGO fans, choices go beyond mere licencing. This year was good for Star Wars LEGO, but there certainly have been better years. Later. Quote
AgentA Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 Two, Star Wars and Vikings. I had to pick Star Wars though. Edit: What's a vassal? Quote

Hobbes Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 editwhat the hecks a vassal? 1. A person who held land from a feudal lord and received protection in return for homage and allegiance. 2. A bondman; a slave. 3. A subordinate or dependent. Middle English, from Old French, from Vulgar Latin *vassallus, from *vassus, of Celtic origin. See upo in Indo-European Roots. Source Quote
