MrTools Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 This just recently came to mind after thinking about my next trip to a LEGO store grand opening. Have you ever gone back to the PAB wall and found somthing that you would have never expected to find? like a real expencive piece or somthing rare? personalty on opening day i found this in brown without a swivling door to put over top. Have you ever seen anything unusual? Quote
Darth Legolas Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 I can't quite remember what pieces were there, but a couple of years ago I went to a PaB wall at my local Lego store and I remeber being very happy. I think these walls will always have at least one interesting piece seeing as that's where the money comes from. I'm just sad that they don't sell Star Wars pieces. Think about it, 800 lightsabers in one container! Quote
MrTools Posted July 6, 2009 Author Posted July 6, 2009 (edited) 800 lightsabers in one container! mmmmm lightsabers by the hundreds. i actualy need parts like that in the hundreds but its unlikely to find them. i just still cant find out why they would have the swivel door without the door to go on it though. Peppermint_M Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 The gemstones, In green, purple and yellow. I used handfuls as filler, it was awesome, I have a creator pod full of them. Once or twice I found instrument panels too, that was cool. I like PAB walls. Quote
Athos Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 They had clock printed tiles (both the rectangular digital ones and the round analog ones) at the Sacramento store. And some trans-green 1x1 tiles. Never saw those 1x1 tiles at a store before. Steve Quote
-JD- Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 (edited) I found some printed tiles before, and a really wierd seat that I don't regognize. I also found a whole minifig at the bottom of the wheel compartment. Edited July 6, 2009 by Jammiedodger714 Quote
Eilif Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 I remember when they had those swivel door panels without the door panels. I never did find the panels, and ended up ordering some on Bricklink. I've found alot of good stuff at PAB over the years. Dark Blue 1x2x2 corners Dark red 2x4, 2x3, 2x2 brick ceiling mounted (reverse slope) computer screens Bamboo pieces 1x4x5 door frames and clear, "classic" and barred door inserts! dark brown arches 1x2x3 arched windows. 1x2x5 trans blue blocks. large leaf plants Cheese slopes in trans green, orange and clear trans neon green jems etc, etc, etc Sometimes the selection is pretty grim, but every so often there is a new Pick-a-Brick list of selected parts that store managers can order from, and there's always quite a few really neat pieces that show up each year. just2good Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 I haven't had any luck lately. Mine removed th fences, which I always use to get. The luckiest I ever got was the head of BD Darth Vader (though I didn't get it), and trans-pink flowers. Quote
GIR 3691 Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 They had large blue (wedge?) slopes at the Palisades Mall store a couple of years ago, and no mirrored piece. I asked why and was told that LEGO sends them the parts, they have no control over getting the "left" kind and not the "right" to go along with them. It's been so long since I've been to a PaB wall, I can't remember finding any unusual pieces. Quote
brickbitz Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 A few years ago I once found a large selection of the town electric sound buzzers in the PaB wall. Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 That's a great and very interesting topic, MrTools! When I went to the Lego Store in Hamburg last summer I bought some special minifigs parts (pants, tops, heads, head gears and accessory) which did partly only exist in licensed sets (e. g. a Harry Potter top) or promo/exclusive sets (e. g. light blue kids pants) or in sets which were released many years ago (e. g. a trumpet). salty tbone Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 I've gotten dogs several times. Not sure what I'm going to do with 30+ dogs but I couldn't resist. A good tip is to ask if they have any different pieces in the back. Many times they'll have more pieces than bins, so they won't be out on the sales floor yet. Quote
