Cyclone Titan Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 You know, there seem to be a few Mod/EB hate topics lately, so I came up with about my 3rd greatest idea ever (behind 'Obama-Os' and looking at yourself in 'Portal' in a portal after you create another portal parallel to you)... A GOOD experiences on Eurobricks topic! Fret not, haters, just divert your eyes from this before the positivity melts your face like the Ark of the Covenant. I guess, since nobody is posting here with me, I'll start. The very positive reviews my 'Lego Idol' comedy topic got before drowning in a sea of horrible ratings. Damn you Economy! (Note I said 'Economy' instead of 'Eurobricks'). Any other takers? CT Quote
AwesomeStar Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 Participating in EBRP, alongside its creator, KhoRne, is one of my happy experiences. It really encouraged me to write, to contribute as a member here and generally just shaped me into the member I am today. Another would be the ill-fated Ditalini Mafia game, which was my first of what I hope to be many wargames, and though I only lasted until the second round, as everyone hated me due to my love of crumpets (), I enjoyed it nonetheless and was saddened when I found out it had died. What else? Every MOC I post, even just a small comment or a little criticism fills me with joy, because people appreciate the day-and-a-half I've spent cramped with my knees to my chest, surrounded by Lego, the only limbs moving being my arms in order to fetch pieces and build, and it reminds me why I build. Thanks for making this topic, it really stirred my memory ~A.S. Quote
cole Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 I obviously havn't been here long, but with a place as friendly as EB, happy isn't hard to come by. I enjoyed the Invasion contest, watching and waiting for the new entries, and getting to vote. I also liked posting a couple of my MOCs here. It's always good to get "Good job that looks nice", but it's the constructive critisizem that realy helps. Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 Thanks guys, we really put in a lot to make this place into what it is! I to love EB and it's community. I can tell you that this is mostly the only forum i am active on, and if it wouldn't be such a great place, i'd be long gone. The fact that i love most about this sote is that i made some great personal friends here from all over the world. Quote
JimBee Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 To me, the overall community and positive atmosphere on these boards make Eurobricks a great place to be. I can express myself freely, get feedback for my reviews, articles, and MOCs, participate in contests and games, and contribute to the growing site without worry of immaturity (not that we don't like our fun ) or negative attitude. I can say that this is my very first forum that I've been on, and one of the only ones I'm on at all, and I'm glad that I joined. In specific, though, some good experiences that I've had here include going through the Reviewers' Academy and teaching in it, participating in contests, games, and other activities, and most of all, making reviews. What a great place to be. Quote
Perterz Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 I've been on countless forums all over the internet but Eurobricks seems to be the only one where posting standards are high which is very good. Close to non-spam threads. I enjoyed the kind comments and help on my first MOCs a lot. People here seem to be forming a close group. Quote
Peppermint_M Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 My MOCs get noticed, even if no one says a thing. I have found ideas and building methods that have helped my building. I can have contact with Star Wars on my own terms and with little issue. I can find pictures of new lego sets and discuss them with others. I can talk about my favourite thing without people rolling their eyes and calling me childish. I am encouraged by positive comments and find solutions to weak points in my MOCs from the critical. I have found a community that is mature and level headed (with a few exceptions), there are not a plethora of topics complaining about new members not "getting it" (the major reason I am no longer a member of a steampunk community I used to quite active in) or that their idea of "it" is incorrect or silly. Most of all, it's cool to be on a forum about Lego, which isn't full of children and sharing my MOCs doesn't mean I forefit ownership of the idea. Quote
Cyclone Titan Posted July 9, 2009 Author Posted July 9, 2009 Those seem like some nice experiences, any others want to share their good experiences with EB members? CT Quote
