Dane of War Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 Yesterday I was at my usual haunt for buying Lego sets - checking to see if the Glatorian Legends had hit the shelves here. I ran across the owner and struck up a conversation about when we could be expecting the aforementioned sets, since they've been out in the states for so long now. Denmark is scheduled to get the 6 Glatorian Legends and the 5 vehicles in August - so we here are following the original release dates. The new film will be released here September 22, as expected. I got a chance to check out his latest retailer sheet for the rest of the year and was a little surprised. As it stands now, the Bionicle Digital Blue products will not be released in Denmark. Nor will the Titan Mata Nui. The store owner (this is a family-run store - not a chain like TRU) related to me that Bionicle is not selling at all as well as it has been in past years, and that the 2009 sales have been far less than had been hoped. He made a rather ominous claim that he thought the line might be "finished". Take that as nothing more than one owner's opinion - but I will say that he is rather reliable and "in" with those in Billund. This took me slightly by surprise as from what I have seen, the sets released here this year do seem to be moving quite well in most stores. I haven't had a problem finding anything, but I notice that there have been quite a few re-stocks in my area. At any rate, that's what I gathered from that conversation. Also - I have not been able to find Tuma anywhere, though he has been released. Finally, it may be of interest the following clearance items: Føtex - All 2009 Bionicle products are being clearanced out at half price and will not be restocked at any time soon. Bilka - All 6 Mistika are 1/3rd off retail price to 75 kr. TRU - The 2006 Lava Chamber Gate is on clearance for 175 kr. (it may actually be less than that, I can't remember for certain) and the 2008 Matoran are 30 kr. Buddy and Legekæden - Axalara T9 is marked down 100 kr. to 399. Hopefully this is of interest to my fellow Danes. Quote
Front Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 Bionicle is doing fine in 2009. On Shop at home new sets are available in Denmark. The vehicles of 2008 was not released on all markets. The same may be true for 2009. Quote
Brickthing Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 In NZ the 2008 vehicles were very hard to come by, and I've been told that the 2009 vehicles will be even rarer, with 1 or 2 sets per select stores. However, seeing as Front as said that BIONICLE is fine, it would just be because of the smaller markets, where stores don't believe the bigger sets will sell as well, so they don't get them. Quote
Ikki o' Moopyville Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 Tak for oplysningen =D But wait, what are those Digital Blue thingies?! -Ikk Quote

The Digital Blue stuff are the cameras and such that were announced earlier this year. Quote
Front Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 Also - I have not been able to find Tuma anywhere, though he has been released. I don't think Tuma is or will be available in Denmark, other than from "shop at home". But I have no solid knowledge, but your experience match my guess.... I brought one Tuma to Legoworld in Copenhagen in February, together with Axalara and other vehicles, and the kids were crazy about them. Axalara was 50% reduced at Legoworld, and they sold out like very fast, properly because I swooshed one around at the Bionicle area. Quote
Ikki o' Moopyville Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 Does anyone know if the sumemr sets will be available earlier in Legoland? They're usually out in July there... -Ikk Quote
Dane of War Posted July 3, 2009 Author Posted July 3, 2009 Does anyone know if the sumemr sets will be available earlier in Legoland? They're usually out in July there... -Ikk I plan on finding out soon - if my wife and I can get our schedules straight, we plan on going as soon as possible. Quote
InnerRayg Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 I'd take that anecdotal evidence with a huge grain of salt myself...Let the movie hit, then watch the toys fly. Quote
Brickus Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 I hope Australia gets Titan Mata Nui, too bad for the Danish, that is where they are made. Quote
Ikki o' Moopyville Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 Aaand just to let everyone know: the Glatorian Legends are available in the LEGO Shop in Legoland. =D Went in there so fast I didn't get to see if the vehicles were there too. xD And totally unrelated, but the Castle Village on display in the PAB Shop is beeeeautiful. -Ikk Quote
Zaktan of the Shadows Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Nah, I think Bionicle is good. It's not done until NO ONE buys it. Which won't be for a while. More kids take an interest in it every year. -ZotS Quote
