Imperial Governer Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 I will soon be writing a letter to the Lego Group in Enfield, CT, asking them to please continue the LEGO Pirates line in 2010. It would be nice if I knew members of Eurobricks also agree with me. Also, I was wondering if anybody else wanted me to incorporate anything in my suggestion letter. Everyone will get full credit for their suggestions in the letter. It would be appriecated if anybody had some good things to say! PM me if you want to be part of the letter! Quote
Paradosis Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 I certainly agree in hoping that Lego will continue the Pirates line in 2010! Quote
cole Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 I'm no pirates fan, but I know alot more people like pirates than any other line they're going to come up with, so I say keep the pirates going! It seems like it would be a good selling product line, I'm not sure why they only did one wave of them... Quote
Spyder Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 Keep pirates going Lego! I'm not a pirate fan, but when the Pirate Lego sets came out, I knew I had to get them! Quote
Captain Zuloo Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 Hey man, I reckons they should continue the Pirates line too, but I think writing a letter is pointless. It will get you no-where. If we want AFOL input into their decisions of what themes to produce, we should try through the Ambassador Program, but personally writing a letter won't get you anywhere. Honestly, in the big picture, the Eurobricks community is a little pixel as far as sales figures go, and it;s the sales figures that will determine if a theme is continued or not. But it's good that you're trying, I just suggest that you try in other ways. Cheers, Zuloo Quote

If TLG wants to continue the Pirate theme in 2010, then the sets have most surely already been designed or are being designed as I write this. Your letter should be to keep the theme running in general. 2010 is a little short-notice when it comes to designing, evaluating, redesigning and then producing sets. Plus I'm fairly sure that if you want to keep the theme running, then buy the sets. - That's what keeps themes running, not letters. Money is the issue. And if noone buys Pirates, then it's goodbye Pirates, even if you send them a zillion "pweease" letters Quote
gondortoast Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 im not a big pirate fan really but if the masses like it than i spose its good enougth for me count me in Quote

That having been said, you're right about voting with your wallet. I tend to buy more of sets in a theme that I like and far less of sets in a theme that I don't like, even if one or two sets in the theme aren't amazing. Pirates are one of those that I've bought far more sets than I usually would have had I not liked the theme. I certainly wouldn't have bought 6239, which is a mediocre set at best, if I didn't like pirates. I think one of the reasons there aren't more pirates sets is because TLG is turning away from humans vs. humans. But maybe if they weren't so focused on putting conflict into the pirates line, they wouldn't have this problem... Quote
