Starwars4J Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 Sorry guys, I guess it's time to suffer through another one of my reviews :-D It comes with two minifigs: a flesh-tone tech, and what looks like a SULLISTAN (sorry if this is...REALLY, REALLY old news :$ ) First, we'll look at the B-Wing bay: The tools are all arranged around the "docking" area: Here's the upper portion of the dock, where the two wing-mounted blasters rest: And here's how the dock comes apart for the B-Wing to land and take off. Unfortunately the pylons fall apart really easily when trying to open or close them Now, let's move onto the B-Wing itself. Of course there's the unique cockpit (I'm sure you'll be thrilled about the level of detail >-| Now, the B-Wing is divided into several sections that snap together with technic pins. First is the cockpit section: Then comes a collar that connects the "head" (cockpit) section to the main body section There's the body section next From the front (the holes are for the two "missiles" shown in the first and second pictures). They don't fit in the ship well): From the right side: Quote
Starwars4J Posted December 7, 2005 Author Posted December 7, 2005 From the left side: The engines in back: There's a mechanism involving the engines that involves a rubberband. You can pull back the entire engine assembly, and then let go, causing it to snap back into place. This in turn causes the two missiles in the front to "shoot". However they don't shoot far at all... Then, finally, the wing assembly. Pictured are the three wings in the closed position, each with the blasters at the tips A closeup of one of the wings, with decals applied (they're the only decals on the ship): A closeup of the blasters: A closeup of the wing attachments: The entire ship, with "missiles" in place and "S-foils in attack position" ;) And finally, a closeup of the B-Wing in the docking bay Summary: For $34.99, and with a 435 piece count, the B-Wing more than meets the current standard. It's well designed, impressive to look at, and has a bunch of nice pieces for those wishing to extend their...bley collection. Though, I have to admit, bley does well for space. Also, it seems that they've used old dark grey, instead of dark bley. Pieces: 9/10 Minifigures: 7/10 Playability: 9/10 Originality: 5/10 Set Design: 7/10 Overall: 7.4/10 So, that's it! Hope it wasn't too bad :-D The B-Wing is a great set, and a great redesign for any Star Wars fan. Quote
Legoman Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 WOW that looks awsome! cant wait for that one :oD Quote
xwingyoda Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 Once again tks for this great review Starwars4J !!! I simply love that ship *wub* TLC made some progress with this baby and the Awing !!!! Its just amazing !!!! I'm more excited top get mine now tks to you !!!! :D :P Quote
Vader Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 Overall the ship looks good but the cockpit is just horrible, im used to lego skipping bits like this but would it hurt just to add say a few tiles with controls? On the plus side the figs are good SULLISTAN, hopefully we will now get a neon numb. Quote
xwingyoda Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 Vader it looks so much better than the original cokpit (and all) !!! I'll post a few pics tonight of the original for comparaison ;) Quote
snefroe Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 and yet another great review! :oD i'm not going to buy this one. sure the missile mechanism is pretty nice, but the rest doesn't really show anything new or attractive... Quote
Vader Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 Its ok yoda i have the original one, it may look better but it still could of been made even better by just adding a few bits. Its a good set and one that ill buy, ill just customize the cockpit alittle :) Quote
Dino_Bot Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 It looks AWESOME! I must get one! that landing dock thing is really cool. Nice detail. Quote
Legoman Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 It looks AWESOME!I must get one! that landing dock thing is really cool. Nice detail. whatever he said :D Quote
LoRd AmUnRa Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 http://www.galactichunter.com/absoluteig/g...7&box=&shownew= So they have change it I think the b-wing is not so bad :'( the missile launcher is so bad and when the wings are closed it looks too big :( Quote
Beagle Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 Yeah, boooooooo to the missile launcher. Dumb idea. And the cockpit could use some more instrumentation, but that's easy enough to add. The rest looks cool, though. I really like that they have designed the platform to hold the ship upright.... they're acknowledging that the B-Wing is a really tough ship to display properly. Thanks for the great review! :) Quote
mutley777 Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 i really like this ship. :oD just got to get me one of those! thanks for all the great pics! Quote
xwingyoda Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 Guys and Starwars4J, here are some pics of my slightly modified first version B-wing for comparison purposes ;) (looks like crap compared to the new one): here is an overal view Cockpit (just for Sne ;) ) Main body section - front Rear cokpit and main section Quote
Deinonychus Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 Great looking set, can't wait until mine comes later this week :-D I actually like the fleshy color on the sullustian, looks right on that little sucker. And I absolutley love the docking stand. All these Star Wars sets are a pain to find shelf space for because they take up such a huge horizontal area, but this way I can display it verticaly and also not have to find a space for it hanging from my already overcrowded celing. Although I wish the centerline wing didn't have defined "top" and bottom" surfaces. Kind of limits the nice looks of the whole thing. But overall, great looking set and great review Quote
prateek Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 this is the best 2006 redo except Slave 1 without a doubt Quote
kotua Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 First, we'll look at the B-Wing bay: I don't see the point of having ladders that only take you half-way. I like the fact that the B-wing pilot has a classic smile...I hope I get to buy it... Quote
crispen Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 :oo :oo :oo ME WANT ONE! (drools) and P.S. great review! ~Crispen Quote

Yuppley Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 He means the nubby dude, i think its supposed to be that thing below his mouth in the movie...either a oxygen tube thing or a communicator. Quote
Starwars4J Posted December 9, 2005 Author Posted December 9, 2005 Oh, the Sullistan? (it's the pilot), that thing is his mouth ;) Quote
gusmoore17 Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 It seems to be a cute set, indeed. It is (as all the redesigned sets) much better than the first one, not only good looking but functional with an impressive amount of well chosen pieces. I am willing to have one :) Quote
