Yloquen Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 Not a week ago I didn't have a single pirate set. Now, I present my first MOC in this fascinating theme :) You can see one more pic at MOCPages Quote
General Armendariz Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 Very nice detail! This MOC is great! I love every part of it Quote
lego fox Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 Me likey, Me likey a lot. Its simply batutiful and I am jailous. I can never seem to make buildings of my own, so I can only say batutiful. One qwetion thowe how did you get the roof by the palm tree to stay put and so close to the wall? Quote
Commodore Hornbricker Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 This might be the nicest fort MOC I have seen based on the new set design. Great job in building this but be careful before you know it you'll be a pirate convert! The mix of SNOT and studs up works well in this. Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 A very nice and detailed work, simple yet great. I would like darkred roofs better to get some more color difference in the scene, but that's personal i guess. Quote
Joey Lock Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 Amazing! Im glad to see that the Redcoats have anotherbase! I like the door and the overall way it looks like it is a improved Eldorado Fortress + Soldiers Fort. Quote
Yloquen Posted June 26, 2009 Author Posted June 26, 2009 Thanks for the comments. I like the pirate theme and I'm glad LEGO returned to it to allow newer fans like me to get into it. I'm exited about the new sets they are going to release. I hope they make something innovative, something they haven't done before. One qwetion thowe how did you get the roof by the palm tree to stay put and so close to the wall? That roof is held by click hinges with thickness 1 plate which are embedded in the wall. I'll make a picture for you if that explanation is unclear. before you know it you'll be a pirate convert! You bet. I pirat... uhhh, borrowed so many ideas for this MOC !!! :) Quote
SWMAN Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 Me likey, Me likey a lot. Its simply batutiful and I am jailous. I can never seem to make buildings of my own, so I can only say batutiful. One qwetion thowe how did you get the roof by the palm tree to stay put and so close to the wall? First off, let me just say that at Eurobricks, we are very tolerant of people who don't speak English as a first language. However, we do expect proper grammar and spelling, so if you are being lazy, please don't be. Now, to the MOC. Very good use of SNOT. All around great MOC in design and execution. Quote
I Scream Clone Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 A really nice creation, the only thing that looks out of place is the palm tree growing on concrete/stone, perhaps some brown or green plates around it would make it fit the landscape a bit better. Well done. Quote

Yep, you are right, I was thinking of doing that but then decided that the small square on the bottom is a patch of dirt from which it grows :) I guess laziness can find an excuse for anything Quote
legotrainfan Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 This is a very nice outpost indeed. I like your choice of colours? Did you use old grey bricks for the base? It looks like old grey. Quote

No, I don't have old gray - it the new dk bley. I guess it's the lighting or the camera white balance that makes it look like the old. Quote
Admiral Croissant Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 very nice moc! I like the fisherman and the windows are really nice to see what's inside the treasure chest? Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 what's inside the treasure chest? Extremely flammable gunpowder... :pir-skull: Nice MOC! I like the building a lot and the tatty shore too. I should make the wooden roofs a bit tattered, it looks a bit too clean in my opinion. The fisherman is nice. There are a lot of great details in here. Keep it up! Quote
Yloquen Posted June 27, 2009 Author Posted June 27, 2009 what's inside the treasure chest? Ye, bluecoat, are not gonna trick me. I know your fleet is waiting to hijack my chests. But judging from the fact that the commander is out on an inspection ... it must be something pretty valuable ... Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 Some very valuable and rare gunpowder, it explodes when it comes in contact with wood. :pir-skull: I hope the commander is enjoying his last seconds. Perhaps you could add some detail to the water? Quote
Yloquen Posted June 27, 2009 Author Posted June 27, 2009 Perhaps you could add some detail to the water? I'd like to, but unfortunately, you are looking at my whole collection of blue parts :) Funny thing is one of the incentives for me to buy the Soldier's Fort was to get some blue for water :) Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 It can become quite expensive if you buy complete sets only for a few pieces you need. Are you familiar with BrickLink? A great source of bricks! I wasn't aware of that site either, but if you know how to handle it, you can build everything you want. If you have enough money of course. Quote
commander Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 t6he only disadvantage to that is that my HMS Malevolence cant fit in that port but the design and shape is awesome! Quote

Yes, I know of BrickLink, but for some reason I feel unsatisfied when I buy parts only. When I get new LEGO I want to immediately build something with it, that's why I prefer sets Plus, I exaggerated a bit - I like a lot more parts in that set, plus the great minifigs in it (though I think it's price is a bit steep for the size, but still a cool set). t6he only disadvantage to that is that my HMS Malevolence cant fit in that port but the design and shape is awesome! Yep, it's not a port, probably it is built in a place which does not allow ships to get close to the shore. You have to send boats from your ship Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 It was a normal happening that ships laid for anchor a few yards from the docks since the water wasn't deep enough. Of course there were deep ports, mostly the European large ports and shipyards had. But it costs so much money and time to make every port deeper. Quote
Paul cantu Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 This is awesome. I love how much it fits into the theme and looks like the sets. It is simple yet extremely detailed. Amazing job! Quote
Admiral M Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 (edited) Great Moc! This is really detailed, and I imagine it could easily be expanded! If you could build four of these, and made them modular, it would be a great fortress! Edited June 28, 2009 by Admiral M Quote
