StoneW4 Posted June 21, 2009 Author Posted June 21, 2009 First of all, the broadside of this ship look amazing! It's a pure demonstration of overwhelming firepower. The stern look equally mighty. The rigging has room for improvement. It should be attached on the side of the ships as can be seen here. Of course, giving it real rigging with ropes will be even better (but time consuming). This being a 4-decker on standard hull pieces makes the upper deck rather narrow, only solution is to go for a brickbuild hull. Maybe something for a future project? Thanks for your constructive words, Bonaparte! Your ship has an optimal/perfect rigging which looks very realistic! Respect!! It should be solvable for me to attach it on the side of the ship. Thank you for the tip! But I’m afraid I’m not patient enough to use ropes. You are right, the upper deck is narrow, a real disadvantage of prefab hull pieces! But if I put off the 4th deck it wouldn’t grow wider. Therefore I would have to remove the 3rd row, too! As you already mentioned the only equitable solution is to build the whole hull with bricks. But I don’t have enough brown bricks. Perhaps I could use red ones... But another question: I thought I’ve built a 3-decker, because the "4 th deck" isn’t complete. It is disconnected. Why do you all speak from a 4-decker? Please explain it to me! I’ve a vessel of a similar type which is approved as 3-decker. Where is the difference? -Mouth Drops-That is a masterpiece, how many sections is it on the bottom? How tall is it in inches? It looks like HMS Victory! How wide is it in inches? I wish I could make something as amazing! Thank you for your statement, Sir Wellington! The proportion length to width isn’t quite correct. I hope I answer your questions right: I used 8 midsections. The height is about 36,5 inches. I don’t know the width in inches but I have to admit it is a bit too small! Quote

Once, the famous Lego ship builder Richie Dulin had cut the standard hull sections in two. It's a destructive technique as you have to use a saw to cut them right in the middle. That way you can put some distance between the left and right part which allows you to build a wider ship on 'standard' hull. But another question: I thought I’ve built a 3-decker, because the "4 th deck" isn’t complete. It is disconnected. Why do you all speak from a 4-decker? Please explain it to me! You're right, a 3-decker it is. I must have been drinking too much rum when I typed my response Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 (edited) In the last picture it is obviously a 3 decker indeed, in the other pictures the ship's structure looks like the Santissima Trinidad, which was a four decker: The large ammount of guns behind the yellow gunports make it look like the ship has four decks, but they are disconnected in the middle. And the HMS Victory is a 3 decker. But it is a very, very nice ship anyway! Edited June 22, 2009 by Cap'n Blackmoor Quote

Okay, a 3-decker after all. ...But it is a very, very nice ship anyway! Thanks for your nice words, impressive pictures and explanations, Cap’n Blackmoor!! Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted June 23, 2009 Eurobricks Emperor Posted June 23, 2009 Wow, that Quote
Admiral M Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 wow...big... you must have exhausted your foundries to make all those cannon! Only Teddy's HMS Victory can save us now! On a different note, I think you definitely could raise the bow a bit, it looks kind of empty and low. you could also cut those hull pieces in half and make add 4 studs. It will look 485% better. Redcoats are not a war with Pirates since we respect them, Bluecoats on the other hand... Quote
