Today Matthew Pinsent has won his fourth Olympic gold medal (from consecutive games). The British coxless four beat world champions Canada in a very close Olympic rowing final.

The British team, Pinsent, James Cracknell, Ed Coode and Steve Williams were level with Canada for the last 500 metres but just held on by about 10 inches on the line to claim the gold medal.

Also for the women, Katherine Grainger and Cath Bishop won the women's coxless pair rowing silver medal. And, in the women's doble sculls, Sarah Winckless and Elise Laverick grabbed the bronze.

Lots of good news for Britain today, 3 medals all from rowing.. looks like we are doing better now.

Jon.
