prateek Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 I'm making a car with scissor doors (minifig scale 8-wide) but they aren't able to open up. Can anyone help? Here's what I have so far: Here is the door on its own: Here is the hole: Quote
Spyder Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 (edited) It is because of that one corner/edge, it can't get pass the flat part: Hope this helps, its crappy red lines. (I did it with a mouse on MS Paint) Edited June 13, 2009 by Spyder Quote

(I did it with a mouse on MS Paint) i saw it on another car that someone else made and it worked, maybe its the hinge i used. and i can't figure out a way to remodel it to make it work Edited June 14, 2009 by prateek Quote
5150 Lego Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 HI high is the door? Is it just the hingeplate on top of the slpoe? Or is there another plate between the hinge and slope peice? Quote
xenologer Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 The hinge pivot point needs to be Lower than the edge that is currently snagging. It may also be helpful to make the doors longer with the hinge farther forward; as it is now, even if your door was to rotate upwards by 90degrees along that hinge, it will still be blocking the passenger from leaving. Notice how it works on a real car, the door should be long and shallow. Quote
The Cobra Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 You should keep in mind that LDD works differently from the real world. I used some hinges in a house to make it open and close like some old (Lego) castles. Opening did work great. Closing didn't. Now, here's something I tried and it works so far: Quote
