weasel47 Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 Vig. 80d Hello all! I didn't envision this as a Pirate MOC specifically when I built it--I was thinking Castle--but it could pass for either one. I hope you like it! You can see the full set on Flickr here. I only have three photos now, but I'll be adding more later. -Chris Quote
General Armendariz Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 Wow! awesome detail! I love the dripping from that cliff. great job Quote
Commodore Hornbricker Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 Brilliant! This would make an excellent pirate lair. All it needs is a ship, some prirates and some treasure and a few cannons. This has really sparked my imagination on things that can be done in the pirate world. We are classic-pirates but you just don't see enough piratical MOC here. Great job. The rocks, walkways, tree, dripping water...the overall shape and feel are absolutely perfect. I'd love to see it dressed up with pirates etc., if you have those type of things in your collection! Tom Bricks Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 (edited) I'd love to see it dressed up with pirates etc., if you have those type of things in your collection! You could pretty much put anything on this and it would look fantastic. I'm looking forward to more pictures. Any chance of posting islands 1-3 here too? Also do you still have all three or did you use the same pieces in all of them? Edited June 10, 2009 by Tom Bricks Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 This is a wonderful way to introduce yourself into the Pirate forum! An outstanding MOC you've got there! The work on the cliff is awesome, the details, greenery and the stairs. My compliments for executing it so good. The water dripping from the rock is a very nice touch, the surrounding water is also very nice. The tree on the cliff is very nice with all the roots crawling over the rock. Great job!! Quote
Captain Zuloo Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 Ah, very nice MOC. Certainly worthy of the Classic-Pirates.com frontpage! I especially like that ripple in there. Well done! Quote
Stash2Sixx Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 Fantastic job Chris. Any chance we could get some closeups of that tree? Quote
weasel47 Posted June 10, 2009 Author Posted June 10, 2009 Thanks for all the wonderful feedback, everyone! I'd love to see it dressed up with pirates etc., if you have those type of things in your collection! I do have those types of things in my collection, and they haven't seen any MOC action in a long time. Some of them are on display at my parents' house, actually. So far, I've kept my islands mostly mini-fig free. I imagine being on the island myself (and I build from that perspective), and I want other people to be able to do the same, as opposed to having the island "belong" to mini-figs. If that makes sense. Some of the other islands I have in mind for the future would probably be inhabited by mini-figs, if I ever get around to making them. Fantastic job Chris. Any chance we could get some closeups of that tree? I'll take some more pictures--including closeups--some time soon. You could pretty much put anything on this and it would look fantastic. I'm looking forward to more pictures. Any chance of posting islands 1-3 here too? Also do you still have all three or did you use the same pieces in all of them? I do have all of my islands still. Fun fact: I used up most of my light gray and a fair amount of my blue bricks on the first island, and because I knew I wouldn't want to take it apart any time soon (this was several years ago, now), I joined BrickLink and started an addiction to it. I haven't yet photographed all the islands together. I arranged the first three for my own benefit after building the third. The 4th hasn't been officially introduced to the others. Here are the first three (sorry for the mismatched thumbnails here): Island 1 Island 2 Island 3 Quote
Derfel Cadarn Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 some very neat litte mocs u have there. great detail. good job Quote
martinsuper Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Truly this are works of art. All my MOCs are nothing more than military function, but these are made for beauty. Quote
Admiral Croissant Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 All the islands look magnificent, indeed, with some minifig's it would be even better Or else you could maybe put some flags in it, that might look great as well, to make it more something for this forum These are really pieces of art! Tom Bricks Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 I do have all of my islands still. Maybe you could take a picture of all of them together, that would be simply amazing. Is the 2nd island in a different scale than the others? for some reason it looks smaller. Quote
Lego_Warlord_8 Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 (edited) This looks awesome, keep it up! I really like the water, very realistic. The tree looks soo realistic! ~LW 8~ Edited July 3, 2009 by Lego_Warlord_8 Quote
