I was wondering, did blue eppaulettes really exist? I've seen gold, yellow, white, red, even brown, but no blue.

Hope someone can awnser.

Yes, there were many units from many different nations that carried blue epaulettes.

The color of epaulettes was in many cases dependant from the number/name of regiment a soldier was in.

Many armies of the era had non-officer epaulettes.

I can recall the Mexicans doing as such.

In the revolutionary war, Junior Grade Colonial officers would wear red (not gold for officer) epaulettes. For instance, a LT. might only have one epaulette on one side, where a captain would on both.

It is fairly historically accurate to have non-gold epaulettes (which I believe is your bigger question?).
