General Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 "Once, when the level of background magic on the Disc was young and high and found every opportunity to burst on the world, wizards were all as powerful as sourcerers and built their towers on every hilltop" From Terry Pratchett’s “Sourcery” This is one of those towers. It is 35 feet height bottom up and 210 feet top down :) Perhaps the tree next to the tower is the distant ancestor of Sapient pearwood, but I can’t say for sure Wizard is casting a spell: Distant view: Looking at the stars with a Make-Things-Bigger device. Wizards' study in the tower: The basement of the tower was built using SNOT technique, and forms a (seven plus one) sided polyangle. The middle part was constructed with 1x2 bricks and 1x1 round bricks and forms a decagon. Quote
I Scream Clone Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 I really like the shaping on the tower The colour scheme is very bright for a tower, and a lot of colours seem to clash against each other, however it has a certain charm too. The tree looks nice too. Well done. Quote
L-space Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Great work on the seven plus one sides of the tower. keep it up. Quote
Dadster Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 I like it, though I do agree about the color scheme. It "popped" in my brain. Quote
General Posted June 8, 2009 Author Posted June 8, 2009 Thank you :) As for the colour scheme, recently I’ve learned how to buy details on a Bricklink and now I’m looking for the shop with the cheapest shipping to Ukraine. Ant then I’ll try to build something big and colour-harmonical. But, as it is known from “Sourcery”: “When it comes to glittering objects, wizards have all the taste and self-control of a deranged magpie”, so, the present colour scheme in a certain way describes the tower owner. Millacol88 Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Definitely like the shape, not such a big fan of the colours. I would really like to know how you managed to use vertical plates as the tower's walls and have it actually work in such a complex shape. Quote
General Posted June 10, 2009 Author Posted June 10, 2009 To connect vetical plates I used + details on one plate and + on another one. And to connect the verticap plates with the top part of the tower I used 4x Quote
